Bab 120: The Lair

Ethan stood back as Lucas approached the intricately carved box. The symbol of the flame on its surface seemed to indicate something. Ethan suspected that whatever was in the box was something that would make him feel that strange sense of familiarity again.

Lucas reached out and lifted the lid, revealing the contents inside.

Suddenly, a green smoke emerged from the box, quickly enveloping Lucas. Ethan watched in horror as the smoke clung to Lucas, seeping into every crevice and pore. Within moments, Lucas's form began to dissolve, his body melting away in a grotesque, horrifying display.

Ethan's heart raced, a mix of shock and relief flooding over him. If he had opened the box himself, he would have suffered the same fate. As the green smoke dissipated, Ethan was left staring at the remnants of his Soul slave.

"Phew, that was close," he muttered. "Too close."
