I had never been one to care about parties and celebrations so as usual, I remained on my mat and surrounded by books even when everyone else went wild to celebrate the appearance of the first real Demon King.

The ones before him had all been a sham – not real Kings, and simply figureheads to keep up appearances when our army invaded the humans.

I exhaled through my mouth as I flipped to the next page of the book I was reading. This one was written by a certain ancient geneticist and was about his findings when trying to graft demon blood into his plants and create something he called a Demon Fruit.

The process of how to create the so-called Demon Fruits were not outlined as the book instead focused on the results – detailed records of what the fruit looked like and what happened when consumed by different beings.
