The sun seeped into the carriage, pouring onto Elizabeth's face, causing her eyes to flutter open as she beheld a dense forest. "Soon," she whispered softly, "we will reach the castle."

The mere thought of meeting Sebastian once more stirred a flutter in her chest, despite his earlier warning to stay away from the castle. She couldn't help but feel anticipation building within her.

The other day, during breakfast when he had settled in, she had sensed his intense gaze upon her. Even as her mother maneuvered her sisters closer to him, he seemed oblivious to their presence.

Knowing her mother well, Elizabeth suspected that she must have sent numerous letters to him, hoping he would pay a visit.

The fresh scent of pine wafted to her nostrils, prompting her to lean her head out of the window, savoring the crisp fragrance of the early morning dew.
