Bab 25: The Awakening Of The Five Great Disasters (II)
— BOOOM!
As soon as the mana was injected into the brown egg, the ground rumbled loudly beneath everyone's feet.
A deep, cracking noise echoed through the area, and dust burst from the earth, filling the air with thick clouds.
The tremors were violent, shaking the ground so hard that it felt like the entire world was quaking.
The people surrounding the egg stumbled, as they started struggling to keep their balance because of the earthquake made by the egg.
— CRAAACKK!
The egg split open with the sharp sound; a burst of energy radiated like a shockwave.
'It's starting...' Alaine thought silently.
She had seen this scene far too many times to remember, and she knew what would come next like the palm of her hand.
Step... Step...
From inside the shattered egg, a figure slowly emerged—a half-human man with four enormous wings, bird-like in structure, stretching out from his back.
— Whoosh, Whoosh—his wings opened, sending waves of wind toward the surroundings.
His eyes were cold, and there was an arrogant smirk tugging on his lips as he floated above the ground, the air around him buzzing with power.
[The first disaster has been awakened.]
"Who dared to awaken this deity?" The four-winged man finally spoke. His words were full of arrogance as if he was above everyone.
'Yeah... he didn't change at all. He's full of arrogance just like each time.' Alaine sighed in relief.
She was already tired of seeing so many changes, especially around her dear lover.
"It was me." Alaine raised her hand, taking a step forward. "I've awakened you to help me with my future plans."
'There's no use lying to him since he can easily see if I'm lying or not.' she added inwardly.
"Mhm...? Not bad." The four-winged man nodded as his eyes suddenly glowed with a sharp yet holy light. "However..." his voice trailed off as he looked at everyone...
"I am no mortal creature for you to negotiate with. If all of you bow down, perhaps I'll spare everyone." he sneered arrogantly.
After hearing the four-winged man's words, everyone immediately started complaining, whispering between themselves.
Well, that was natural, after all, who would like to bow down?
"Alaine... I don't think he's going to listen to us..." Daniel spoke as he glanced her way.
Alaine simply nodded her head, and instead replied shortly, "Prepare yourself. His power is related to gravity."
"Gravity...?" he mumbled in thought.
However, Daniel's doubts were short...
"How dare... mere ants, offend this deity?!" The winged man suddenly raised his hand, and the air around them suddenly grew impossibly heavy.
— BOOOOOOM!
The earth groaned under the pressure, almost unbearable; the weight of his gravity powers fell upon everyone as if an invisible force that might crush them against the ground at any moment.
Stones and debris crumbled, making sharp cracking sounds under the intense pressure.
But Alaine had waited for this moment, so she only signaled the other people around her to ready themselves.
"Daniel. be ready for that initial strike I spoke to you about," she whispered to Daniel.
"Yeah, but... this.... pressure... is freaking insane!" Daniel grunted in return, barely able to keep upright under such pressure.
"Do you see now the power of a god?!" The four-winged man hovered over them, smirking as he watched their struggle.
"Bow before me, and perhaps I'll end your suffering quickly."
"Now!" Alaine screamed suddenly, and Daniel sprang forward, his radiating sword flashing in a sharp swish through the air.
Alaine had timed it just right because she could be certain that the winged man would go to the left, as he always did.
— Claaaang!
Daniel's sword barely missed its mark as the winged man dodged, just as she'd predicted. He sneered, throwing out another wave of gravity that sent the earth beneath Daniel cracking, the deep thud and crash of the earth splitting apart ringing out around them.
But even after that action, Alaine was already moving, stepping on the crumbling ground and rushing towards the four-winged man.
At the same time, she got a small bottle from her waist and suddenly threw it on the sky.
— Fzzzswip!
A huge purple ball exploded in the sky...
Upon seeing this, the others sprang into action. Arrows whizzed through the air aimed at the winged man's sides, while spells crackled as magic-based players flung bolts of lightning and fire blasts in the man's direction.
— Swish... crackle..., BOOOOM!
The air was filled with the sounds of battle, but the winged man was fast, dodging and deflecting attacks with ease.
'It should be now...' Alaine watched his movements carefully, before jumping towards him, bringing out a silver sword.
Immediately, her position was noticed by the four-winged man.
— Boom!
He narrowed as he sent a massive gravity wave toward her. The pressure was immense, the air itself seemed to groan under the weight, but it didn't affect Alaine a bit.
She sidestepped, avoiding the brunt of the attack, the sound of the ground cracking beneath her feet ringing out in sharp crunches.
'Truly arrogant... in each round, you always underestimated me. However, that only gives Daniel a chance to attack...' she smiled faintly, looking at a rushing figure that passed just beside her.
Daniel passing right before her, swung his sword in a wide arc, attacking the four-winged man's wings once again.
— CLANG!
The sword made contact this time, cutting a bit of his right wings, causing the winged man to stumble mid-air, his eyes widening in shock.
"Impossible!" the winged man spat, wings beating wildly in mad tangles as he tried to regain control. "You dare strike a deity?!"
"A deity...?" Alaine chuckled at his words, "You're nothing but a disaster created to make us humans, stronger..."
"YOU DARE!" The winged man released another wave of gravity, much stronger this time.
The ground cracked and shattered, creating deep craters around them. The air was thick, and every movement felt sluggish.
"Well... that should be enough to prove our worth," Alaine muttered as he looked towards Daniel.
"You can activate your blessing now," she added.
"Ah... finally..." Daniel nodded with a faint sigh.
He closed his eyes, and shortly after, a soft light began to glow from his body.
— BOOOM!
— BOOOM!
— BOOOM!
The light grew brighter, until it exploded outward with a loud sound, dispelling the gravity around them in an instant.
The pressure caused by the four-winged man was immediately lifted as the light spread around, and the air felt light again.
Upon seeing this, the winged man froze, his eyes widening in disbelief as he stared at Daniel.
"You…" he uttered as his voice was truly trembling from shock.
"No… It cannot be…"
Slowly, the winged man lowered himself to the ground, his wings folding in as he knelt right before Daniel.
The arrogance in his eyes was gone, replaced with respect, deep respect.
"I have met… the Successor of the Holy Hero," he said softly, bowing his head.
"Forgive my arrogance, great one. I had not realized who you were."
"Agh..., it's done," Alaine let out a small breath of relief, watching as the once-proud disaster knelt before Daniel.
'Thankfully I didn't need to use any of my special skills... I really don't want to attract the attention of those outer gods...'
'Well... One thing is for sure... those outer gods weren't watching the star stream when Lucius revealed my regressions. That's a huge relief...'
'Talking about Lucius... where is he? I immediately came here after my meeting with him since it was unnecessary to do the one hundred waves because I didn't need a mythical item right now...'
"A-ah... t-there's no need to bow down." Daniel quickly helped the four-winged man get up from the ground.
"Of course it is! You're the successor of the hero that saved our world, meeting you is like meeting the creator!" The four-winged man refused his words and continued kneeling down.
"Ah... sure," Daniel scratched his head, making a confused face.
"Well, going on, like my friend over here said... we'll need your help with our future plans. So, could you grant us your strength?" Daniel extended his hand towards him, showing a faint smile.
"Of course! It would truly be my honor to be used in your future plans!" The four-winged man took Daniel's hands and got up from the ground.
'Great! It was just perfect...!' Alaine cheered inwardly.
'Everything is going well... now, we just need to awaken all the other disasters and do the same with them.'
"Really?! Then, can we start now Alaine?" Daniel turned to Alaine.
She nodded her head and continued...
"Let's wake up the next disaster..."
However, just as she was about to signalize for everyone to inject mana into the egg...
The shadow of a figure appeared on top of the fifth egg, where Maria Palmer would emerge from.
"Oh, my~"
"What do we have here?"
Lucius, crossing his legs, spoke aloud as his lips curled into a deep smile.
