Bab 44: Inferno

A deafening roar shattered the eerie silence of the forest as the cabin exploded in a brilliant flash of orange and red. The shockwave slammed into Zhang Kai, Sun Jingtian, and Lin Feng with the force of a freight train, sending them tumbling head over heels across the uneven terrain.

Zhang Kai hit the ground hard, the wind knocked from his lungs. He gasped for air, his ears ringing from the thunderous blast. Debris rained down around them – splintered wood, twisted metal, and a hail of red-hot shrapnel.

Coughing and sputtering, Zhang Kai struggled to his feet, his eyes widening in horror as he took in the scene before him. Where the dilapidated cabin had once stood, an inferno now raged, the flames licking greedily at the towering pines surrounding the clearing.

"You treacherous bitch!" he roared, his voice dripping with unbridled fury. "Bai Yunshu, you'll pay for this!"
