Bab 11: Dragon Arena
Yuki followed behind Meng Li as they walked down the long hallway. There were several rooms on either side of them which were used for registration.
"This is where you sign up for fights in the arena. You can get some sect currency if you win." Meng Li explained as they stood in front of one of the registration rooms.
"Why are you signing me up though?" Yuki said, clutching the corner of her robe.
"Where did all your pride go?" Meng Li said, smiling kindly as she placed her hands on Yuki's shoulders.
"Well...I'm not that confident in fighting." Yuki admitted, blushing slightly as she averted her gaze away from Meng Li. She had bad memories of fighting, and not just in this life.
Meng Li patted her shoulders lightly before pushing open the door. "Don't worry, you won't die. Use this as an opportunity to strengthen yourself. The problem that occurred yesterday did not have happened otherwise."
Yuki bit her lips and nodded her head.
That was true...if she was stronger then that problem wouldn't have happened, and she and her sister wouldn't have been injured because of her weakness.
"Well, let's sign up first." Meng Li said as she guided Yuki into the room and stood in front of the registration table.
"May I help you?" A beautiful female disciple sitting at the desk asked politely as she looked up from her paperwork. She had long blonde hair tied back in a ponytail and green eyes that sparkled brightly.
"Yes. She would like to sign up for a fight in the arena." Meng Li said, pushing Yuki forwards.
The female disciple's eyes widened slightly as she examined Yuki's features. Such a cute girl... She would probably cry a lot if she got punched in the face.
"First time?" She asked gently as she grabbed a blank form from the shelf behind her and placed it on the table.
Yuki nodded her head shyly.
The female disciple smiled kindly before handing her a pen. "Fill this out and then sign at the bottom. I'll put you on the roster and you can come back later today to fight."
Yuki took the pen and filled out the form quickly before signing her name at the bottom and handing it back to the female disciple who examined it closely.
"Snow Dragon Spirit? Isn't the Snow Dragon Clan extinct?" She asked curiously, but didn't wait for Yuki to reply and stuffed the form into a drawer under her desk before standing up and walking over to a bulletin board that had a list of matches on it.
"You're good to go, you will be fighting in two hours. Here's your opponent's name." The female disciple said as she pointed at a name on the board.
Yuki nodded her head in understanding as she read the name, it was a disciple named Ardor Huo. His spirit was the Crimson Dragon King and was level 25. The Crimson Dragon King is a strong offense spirit, with the fire and earth attributes.
"Now what?" Yuki asked curiously as she turned to face Meng Li who was waiting patiently for her at the door.
"Now we go and get you some gear and get you some new robes. You don't want your Sect robes in ruins now do you?" Meng Li said playfully as she walked out of the room and headed down the hallway.
Yuki followed her out of the room and through a door at the far end of the hall.
"There are several shops around here that sell different types of equipment for fights in the arena. Most people go there first before going into the arena and fighting. That way they won't have to buy new equipment again." Meng Li said as they walked through the streets.
Yuki looked around in awe at all of the stores and shops around them that were selling all sorts of different things from weapons to armor. She also noticed that many people were staring at her as they passed by which made her feel uncomfortable. She could hear whispers and murmurs coming from the crowd around her which made her feel even more self conscious than she already was.
"Ignore them. They just haven't seen a beautiful Snow Dragon Spirit like you before." Meng Li said casually as they turned into another street where there were several clothing shops lined up along either side of the road.
Yuki blushed deeply as she followed behind Meng Li who stopped outside a large store and waited patiently for her to catch up before opening the door and leading her inside.
When they entered the store, Yuki was immediately struck by how amazingly colorful everything inside was. The walls were painted in vibrant colors that brightened up the room, and the floor was covered in carpets that had intricate patterns woven into them. There were various racks of clothing hanging on the walls and shelves, as well as a counter where a middle aged man was standing behind wearing a plain brown robe.
"Welcome dear customer, how may I help you?" The man asked politely as he walked over to them with a smile on his face.
"We would like to purchase some dragon silk armor for her." Meng Li said, gesturing towards Yuki.
"Right away madam. What is her spirit element?" The man asked as he grabbed a piece of paper and a pen from a drawer underneath the counter and began writing down some notes.
Meng Li raised her eyebrows as she looked at Yuki to answer.
"My spirit element is Snow, Ice, and somewhat fire." Yuki answered with some pride on her face.
"Fire element?" Both the old man and Meng Li asked.
Meng Li was the most confused as she's been with Yuki for a while and knows what her spirit is. As for the old man, hearing conflicting attributes is indeed rare, but she had one element conflicting with two.
Yuki nodded her head as she smiled brightly at Meng Li.
Meng Li blinked a few times in surprise before turning to look at the old man who was still staring at Yuki curiously.
