Bab 17: More is always Good
"Good, now clean this place up before you do something that causes an explosion. You have the money to go rent a lab or something," Jon said, instantly turning the once serious atmosphere around.
"But… that makes more sense. Why didn't I think of that?" James said, slapping his forehead.
He had never really thought of how dangerous it was to have his lab under the barn and so close to the house without any protective measures in place.
Yes, he was confident in protecting the house from any enemy unless the person could warp reality or manipulate matter, but he couldn't protect it from an explosion in his own lab.
It would be unexpected and quick, meaning that before he could even react, things would have happened.
"Oh wait, help me give Clark and Mom this. This one's for you," James said as he super sped to a part of the lab and returned just as fast, but this time with three small boxes.
"What are these?" Jon asked.
"The watches are for you and Clark, and the necklace is for Mom. It will allow Kelex to always know your whereabouts and be able to notify us when you need help. Also, it's nice," James answered as he opened one of the boxes. Inside was a stylish watch, though it didn't look all that special.
"Why? Are you expecting some sort of being to attack us or something?" Jon asked as a joke.
"It's just to be sure," James replied as he handed the boxes to him.
"Where are you going?" Jon asked suspiciously.
"To find a place to put all of this. It may take a while, but I should be back by tomorrow morning at the latest."
"Normally, I would be worried, but you are James. Just make sure to tell your mother, okay?"
"Sure."
"That's good. See you, Kelex," Jon said as he turned around and left the space.
"Kelex, help me search for any Kryptonian distress signals around the Earth," James said as soon as Jon left.
"Affirmative, sir," Kelex replied. "Sir, I have found nothing, but I have found two odd entries in my database."
"Go on."
"Several hundred years ago, a ship was sent here. It sent back a signal to Krypton coming from a place that should now be the Arctic. Before that, a distress signal was received from this planet in an area that would be today's Texas."
"Focus on the Texas bit. Show me the exact or approximate location, and I will find it myself," James said as he stopped what he was doing.
The ship that was under Texas was probably the most powerful ship Krypton had ever produced: a Sunstone ship.
To understand just how powerful this ship is, you would have to understand how powerful Sunstone is.
This is a metal-like crystal that is capable of practically anything. Well, not anything, but it is a programmable crystal and thus can be used to achieve most things.
The command keys were made from this, though not entirely of Sunstone, but they do contain a piece of it. The ship was made entirely of Sunstone, meaning the spaceship could become anything he wanted, but that wasn't all.
The spaceship was created during Krypton's era of expansion and was considered to be the greatest ship ever created.
It was led by the greatest soldier the Kryptonian Empire had to offer, Admiral Zod.
The Zod family are militaristic, meaning the ship was a warship, which also means that it holds incredibly powerful weapons on board.
Weapons capable of planetary destruction with just a single blast. The ship was powerful, and according to comics, Lex finds it. But in this life, well, Lex will find it if this universe goes like that, but he definitely wouldn't live to spread the news.
Receiving a GPS locator from Kelex, James immediately sped out of the space and straight for Texas.
Over the past ten years, James had bathed around and inside the sun on multiple occasions. With his mutation that allows him to absorb energy even more efficiently than normal Kryptonians, as well as store energy infinitely, James became bolder in his sun trips.
He took his time migrating closer and closer to the sun so he wouldn't overload himself with energy, but as of three years ago, James officially started taking sun dips—hour-long sun dips.
An hour may seem like nothing, but for a mutant or meta like him, an hour was enough for him to quadruple his already ridiculous power.
At present, James could fly way faster than the speed of sound, nearly reaching the speed of light but limiting it as he was in the Earth's atmosphere.
Outside it, James was several times faster than the speed of light, reaching the sun in just a few seconds. It takes light eight full minutes to get from the sun to the Earth.
As for his strength, James had been experimenting with that a lot. As retconned a long time ago, Kryptonian strength was now a result of their conscious acts on the energy field around them. James had finally seen it.
Apparently, when a Kryptonian reaches a certain level of power, all the energy they absorb is then stored in some matrix used to augment their bio-electric field, thus granting them impossible strength. But James wasn't a normal Kryptonian.
He wanted his base strength to be way more than even that of Superman One Million, who was born under a Super Sun.
Using his ability to consciously manipulate where his energy is being sent, James continued channeling the energy he gained to his muscles, which initially made them get bloated.
But his mutation also had a similar function to boost his physical abilities, thus he returned to normal as his mutation processed the energy in seconds.
At the moment, without his bio-electric field, James could lift as much as 100 tons with absolute ease, and with his bio-electric field, things just get ridiculous.
As James hovered in the air above the farm, he immediately shot towards Texas, which in turn created a massive sonic boom, indicating that James had just broken the sound barrier.
James was ridiculously powerful and didn't plan to stop acquiring more power any time soon. After all, Superman may be ridiculously powerful, but he was nothing in front of certain beings.
James knew this, and he believed that until he became a reality warper, he wasn't powerful enough.
