He wasn't aware of the growing pang of guilt in Julian's heart at all.

"Agent Grant."

The blonde woman blinked at him in disbelief. Her gaze darted between Maximillian and Julian in quick succession.

"My. Is this your wife?"

"Not yet," Maximillian responded with a polite smile. "Nice to meet you, Mrs. Haberkorn."

This woman was none other than his superior's lady wife.

"Oh my, oh my."

The blonde woman finally tore her gaze from Julian, a slow smile spreading across her face. With a knowing nod towards Maximillian, she declared, "I kept telling Augustin that alphas who drag their feet about relationships are just holding out for the perfect someone. Looks like I was right on the money!"

With those words leaving her lips, she floated away with an echoing laughter.

Julian turned to look at Maximillian, who handed him the glass of fruit punch.

"Your drink."
