Bab 18: Chapter 4: "Monsters " Part 3

Jade had been gazing at her reflection in the mirror for the past few minutes, unmoving even as the loud commotion from downstairs reached her ears.

She was wearing a white paladin-like armor adorned with rose patterns that matched the scabbard of her sword.

This custom-made armor was a birthday gift from her father, a token of appreciation for her hard work and progress.

A slight upturn graced her lips as she reminisced about the joy of making her father proud, but the pleasant memories began to fade as the harsh reality crept in to take their place.

Her stomach churned as if her own acids were rising. The idea of betraying her father, the man she had admired all her life and worked tirelessly to make proud, flooded her with anxiety.

Tears welled up in her eyes as she clutched the hilt of her sword.

The reality of her situation was bitter and a part of her wished that she had never found out what her father truly is.
