After unwrapping the gifts, Caroline asked Beryl and the other helpers to put them away in her wardrobe.

Caroline and Eddison then headed to the dining room.

"Eddison, I'm buying dinner for my colleagues tomorrow, so I won't be home for dinner. You don't have to pick me up after work tomorrow," Caroline said.

After tucking into her dinner, she noticed that Eddison hadn't responded at all.

She turned to look at him and asked, "Did you hear what I just said?"

Frowning, Eddison said, "Am I not invited? Technically, I'm sharing the same room too, as you do with your colleagues at work. We even share a bed."

His tone sounded as if he felt wronged in this situation.
