"You're sending me where?" Billy exclaimed, his eyes wide with disbelief as he stared at me. Meanwhile, I remained seated calmly upon my throne, poring over the wealth of information I had extracted from the captured ratmen using my mind magic. It had taken me the better part of a week to delve into their minds, but due to my lack of finesse, I could only glean fragmented information with significant gaps in their knowledge. Nonetheless, I had set aside certain memories for later interrogation. For now, however, I had to address Billy, who I had just informed of a recent decision made by his father and me.
"Yep, you heard right. We're sending you, along with some of our finest, to the Candy Kingdom as an ambassador. So, get ready and select a few individuals to accompany you," I informed him, barely registering Billy's clear distaste for the idea as I flipped through the pages containing general directions or locations of ratmen enclaves trying to map out a possible locations of other bases.
"But why me? I need to be here to lead the army against the ratmen!" Billy protested vehemently, attempting to sway my decision. However, despite his efforts, Billy continued to fail to change my mind. Duke and I had spent considerable time contemplating the matter, and we firmly believed that Billy needed the experience of operating outside the kingdom's confines.
Billy had demonstrated exceptional talent and skill in every combat trial we had subjected him to—whether it was swordplay or commanding a weaker troop against a small horde of frost beasts that emerged from an excavated cave, revealing a new world on some Hollow Earth type BS filled with monsters and creatures of legends.
Billy had handled the situation with remarkable poise and skill, swiftly organizing a defensive line that halted the creatures' advance. He showed exceptional bravery, even slaying a massive sabertooth tiger that easily towered over twenty meters in height. Its head now proudly adorned the corner of my throne room, a testament to Billy's prowess and a cherished gift from him.
"You are the next generation and have already surpassed your father as the high commander. You have to be more than just the guy who punches monsters. Until Emma finishes training her replacement, you will be our main diplomat," I explained firmly. With one final deep sigh, Billy resigned himself to the decision and departed to search for those he would take with him.
As for me, I meticulously selected ten out of twenty individuals, choosing only the best of the best warriors from among the servants, vampires, and human warriors who had shown remarkable promise.
"Anyways, back to the task," I muttered to myself, refocusing on the papers in my hands. With determination, I delved back into the intricate details of the map, my mind quickly filling in markings and expanding beyond the borders of our kingdom, albeit not too far, reaching only as far as where the Candy King was located. Despite my efforts, a headache began to gnaw at my temples, a constant reminder of the countless ratmen bases scattered throughout the land. Many of these hoards were hardly worth the effort to eliminate.
