When Jylan woke up, he couldn't see anything, so it didn't even feel like he was awake. His mind felt strangely blurred, and there was something cold tied over his eyes. He reached a hand up to tap it and then realized it was a blindfold of some sort. Even though he couldn't see, somehow his other senses had been extremely heightened. He could hear the wind outside the window, the cold air, and every footstep.
"Keep the blindfold on." came a voice, Sebastian. Jylan didn't move after that, but his fingers were still lingering on the knotted fabric around his eyes. Hmmm. More than that, his eyes felt strange and … empty.
"Well, what happened?" Jylan asked. There was a slight rustle of fabric, and then footsteps on what he assumed was the other side of the room, but he couldn't tell. It was already frustrating to not be able to see.
"Ah, well, after you blacked out, I managed to kill most of the advisors. Uhm. After that…"
"Did I lose my eyes?" Jylan asked, hitting the bullseye. Even though he couldn't see, he could imagine Sebastian frowning. "No, uh, something more than that. There's a curse now."
"On my eyes? A curse?" Jylan echoed, surprised. So, then, his heightened senses had been… Magic? Jylan sighed. Now he could even make out a bit based on the combination of hearing, touch, and smell - a series of rough shapes.
"I'm so tired of all the curses…" Jylan sighed. Sebastian could be seen nodding.
"I wish this would all end," Sebastian said.
"But then that would be weirder. If all our problems ended, what would we do all day?" Jylan asked.
"Fair. Anyway, since the advisors died, your dukedom won the fight." Sebastian said, and Jylan tried not to zone out.
"Of course. They were bound to win." Jylan said, yawning.
"Are you sleepy?" Sebastian asked.
"My Prince, I just yawned, what do you think?" Jylan said.
Then there was the sound of the door closing, and Jylan was left alone in the silence. He curled up and let sleep claim him again.
