With one hand pretending to be loosening the thin rope at his neck, her other hand slowly reached her calf where her dagger was, but the door suddenly burst open and both their heads turned towards the now opened door.

Standing there was a tall figure covered from head to toe in black cloth. A man, she could tell. But who was he? One of Lyle's men?

"What audacity!" Lyle screamed. Clearly it wasn't his man.

"Who are you? How dare you barge in here like this! Do you know who I am?" Lyle yelled angrily. "Who are you? A common thief? Or an assassin? Whichever you are, it would be in your best interest to walk out of here right now or face my wrath!"

For some reason, Neriah felt like the intruder had his eyes on her. Why? If he was here for Lyle, why was he staring at her like he knew her?
