Bab 339: • Manhunt Begins (2)

Gareth and the other marshals watched as the elderly man approached them slowly. He didn't walk for longer, already tired, so he stood in the street, hunched but unbroken, his gnarled hands were resting on the crooked wooden cane that helped him stand.

He had pale and tired eyes which he used to sweep over the marshals before settling his gaze on Gareth, who he correctly presumed was their leader. He then took a slow, measured breath before speaking.

"What is your name, sir?" Gareth inquired.

"My name is Elder Corvell," the old man announced, his voice carrying a surprising strength for someone of his years. "I lead this community. We have little, as you can see, as you... already know."

He looked at the marshals once again. "You are searching for Spheris Arnadel. I know of the boy. But the people here, most of them, don't even know who he is. Not at all. We truly can not be of any use to you."
