A sophomore at the Automation College of Jiangcheng University, Xu Duchong, was enjoying the Mid-Autumn holiday.

He wasn't from Jiangcheng but lived in Jiang Province, with his hometown in Lingcheng, right next to Jiangcheng. Although administratively, Lingcheng is considered a subordinate city to Jiangcheng, Xu Duchong always identified himself as someone from Lingcheng, never as a Jiangcheng local.

There was a common joke online about how people from Jiang Province considered even crossing a street to be going to a "Foreign Domain," indicative of their parochial mindset.

Because he lived close by, he would go home even for the short one-day Mid-Autumn break.

For Xu Duchong, being home wasn't all that comfortable; he was woken up by his mother at eight in the morning, had lunch at his grandmother's, and then moved on to his grandfather's house in the evening.

After dinner, he could finally slack off.
