Her head had been chopped off, and that should have meant her death, but who could have known that the woman was still alive, biding her time for the right moment to strike. Her presence on the council's land left her unaffected, which confirmed their suspicion: a witch transformed into another creature could walk these grounds.

"Have you something to say on this, Murkh?" Damien inquired, since Murkh was the one responsible for examining the body.

Predictably, the witch headed for the door, intending to leave with the information she had overheard. "She cannot exit the room without the keys. You're free to kill her, and I will collect her body later," Murkh responded, standing by their side. He studied the black witch, his crimson gaze fixed upon her features, now normalized to human form.

"That's reassuring," Damien retorted, displeased that she had eavesdropped on their conversation.
