Bab 17: Chapter 17
One of the few things I had stopped myself from doing till now was Scav hunting, not because I was scared I wouldn't be able to come out victorious, but because I knew that if I started doing it I wouldn't be able to stop, I am going in a dungeon, monster that give XP, possible loot either from their bodies or from "chests", and a most than likely big boss waiting for me, if this isn't a dungeon that I don't know what is.
But when Maine decided to bring the job, I was forced to accept it, more than ready to gain the missing XP to finally reach level 10, which I am sure has more reward than a simple perk point and status points.
" Are you ready?" A feminine voice asks me, bringing me out of my monologue state.
Looking at Rebecca holding her shotgun I smiled at the comparison and got my rifle out.
" Always am," I said removing the safety.
" Since we are here because of you, go inside and show us what you can do," Maine told me while smiling.
" Maine, the place is full of Scavs you are sending him to his death," Dorio said while placing a hand on his shoulder.
While they continued discussing I took out a computer from my bag where my PC was placed ( imagine Marcus Holloway's bag) and sat on the ground starting to do something with it.
Maine and Dorio ignored me, but Kiwi and Lucy didn't place themself behind me while looking at my computer.
Do you know what happens when your Dex and Int are twice the ones of a normal human? You can type and process information twice as fast, plus the time dilatation given to me by y Kiroshi eyes and I can process information at a monstrous rate, that's why I decided to hack into the system of the building where the Scav is located and make all the lights explode, already killing a few that were directly connected to the electric system of the building.
Lucy was genuinely impressed, she was more of a quick hack and goodnight, but she knew how hard it was to use a computer to hack on the current days, on the other hand, Kiwi didn't show any emotions, her stare everpresent on my back.
Maine and Dorio saw the lights go off, and before they could question me I had already dashed inside, rifle in hand and eyes glowing in their night vision mode.
Immediately after getting inside, I got low by sliding on the ground, evading the bullets of an SMG aimed at my head, the holder of the gun instead didn't evade my bullet aimed at his head, and his companion didn't have the time to counter my Shortcircuit demon.
After getting up I continued shooting the location where people were thanks to a quick Ping, my bullets easily going through walls thanks to the piercing modification I had done to the gun, some bullets killing instantly the enemies some losing their force and only being able to seriously injure them.
My perception alerted me of an incoming danger, so released the rifle which remained near me thanks to the strap around my body and I used my machete to parry a sawblade that almost slashed me in two halves.
Before the man had the time to understand what had happened I used my free hand to take my revolver out and shoot him on the knee, making him fall right on my machete, making it pierce his head and killing him on the spot.
Putting the revolver back in its place I threw the Machete at a Scav who had kicked the door for the room I was in, impaling his foot to the ground and making him stagger for long enough to make me grab my rifle and shoot him in the head.
I activated Ping once again, and seeing how no one was coming down from the upper floor I messaged Maine.
" The cockroaches don't want to get down, do you have insecticide?"
Maine seemed to understand what I meant because a few seconds later a Poison grenade had been thrown on the upper floor, the red glow on the enemies warned me that some died, not having enough time to get down, while others started going down, letting me shoot them down one by one.
After the last red glow disappeared I lowered the gun down, used Ping once again just to be safe, and put the safety back on the gun while reloading it, and also taking the machete back from the feet of the guy, I also grabbed the sawblade of the guy who tried to melee me.
I walked outside and looked at the surprised faces of the Cyberpunks.
" What was that?" Rebecca asked while rushing towards me to inspect my rifle and revolver.
" That was overpreparation and knowing how to use your guns the right way," I said while smiling.
" That answers nothing, how did you know where people were," Dorio asked me also curious about how I was able to fight so well.
" He can quick hack, not as well as me and Lucy, but he isn't a novice, I am also quite sure that has several demons," Kiwi answered her question before I could.
" What she said, working Solo means not having any Netrunner by your side, so I had to become my own, but hacking can bring only to a certain point, so I also trained on how to handle guns, and fighting with blade and hand to hand combat."
"... Choom, is there something you aren't good at? Have ever even seen a pussy?" Rebecca asked me while her eyes showed concern.
" More than you'd expect, if you want I can show you what I can do," I said with a smirk at the straightforward gnome.
" No time to have sex, we have to harvest what we can and then get out before NCPD arrives to get the rest," Maine said while walking inside the building.
" Party pooper," Rebecca said while laughing.
I ignored them bickering while they got inside and instead looked at the notification I had received during the fight, and as I expected, level 10 is very important.
