Bab 106: Chapter 106 Aftermath
"That was not bad" a few minutes after taking care of the demon, Karna came back to the guild where he met Makarov. Thankfully just as he had hoped, the demon only had speed type abilities and not adaptation type. Karna was easily able to see through the speed of the demon and if it comes down to it, he could have surpassed the speed shown by it as well.
"Luckily they underestimated me" Karna replied to Makarov
"That won't happen next time, so be even more careful" Makarov warned. Karna had informed Makarov and Warrod about the secret of Tartarus, the most mysterious guild in the Baram alliance. He and Warrod after learning about this had tried their best to get as much information as they can about the demons which had been sighted till that day.
The immortality of the demons who are able to be reborn has given both of them a lot of sleepless nights as well. So, the only thing that they can do is gather as much information as they can about the demons so that they can be taken care of easily. They know that Tartarus will not allow killed demons to roam around as that would reveal their trump card of revival.
So, they will be sure to release all the revived demons at the same time when they have to spread chaos and destruction across entire Fiore.
After seeing Karna taking down the demon, Makarov had made the members who were monitoring the battle to leave so as to talk to him alone.
"How many do you think they will send next?"
"None" Karna answered with a smile
"What do you mean?" Makarov asked, confused at the way Karna is facing the problem.
"Remember me telling you about not revealing the secret of Tartarus being filled with demons before"
"What does- "and then it clicked together for Makarov. Karna had the ability to take down the demon without even talking to it and Karna's style was taking out the enemies cleanly without even allowing them to say their last words.
But this time, Karna had talked with the demon for some time and revealed a part of the intelligence he knew to it as well. Makarov knew that Karna is able to kill demons without leaving any traces since recently with the new techniques he had acquired.
And the fact that the demons came here searching for him specifically tells that they too know about it. So, the only reason for the demon to come back to their guild for revival is because Karna was using it as a messenger. And the message was simple.
"I know your secret and unless you want it to be revealed, stay away from me".
The reason for sending the demon back without annihilating it and talking with it before killing it within a moment. The demons were smart enough to hide themselves for centuries while keeping a tight grasp on their secrets. So, the chances of them being smart enough to know the underlying message is also very high.
Karna felt like laughing out loud thinking about the expression Mard Geer must be having.

Tartarus
"THAT BASTARD!!!" Mard Geer was smart enough to understand what Karna was insinuating within a few moments after hearing about what happened from the demon he had sent.
"Forgive me lord, I have failed" the demon has been keeping his head down ever since he had gotten revived.
Mard Geer ignored the apologies of the demon and started pacing around the room muttering while contemplating everything around him. And he finally stopped seemingly coming to a conclusion.
"DAMN YOUUUU!!!" Mard Geer screamed in frustration as he smashed the table he was using into pieces.
"Karna Vermillion, for now you might have won, but I will make you suffer before I remove your very existence from the world!!"
The demon was shivering in fear seeing the anger shown by his leader and the aura being spread by him was shaking the entire cubic structure of their guild in the sky.
He then turned towards the demon and ordered
"Tell everyone that the plans to fast forward our attack on the world should be halted, instead use the plan we were going to use before. But this time be more careful and obtain as much information as possible about every wizard no matter how insignificant they are" Mard Geer had learned his lesson well. He had underestimated a wizard while knowing that he was a high rank, right now because of that wizard, they met a setback where there has been a large loss of intelligence which can jeopardise everything they had planned till now.
Mard Geer considers humans as an inferior species compared to demons. but he also knows not to underestimate them as well as the number of humans are more than enough to take all the demons down by tiring them out. The human's main power is their magic which they use to bridge the gap between the demons who naturally have curse magic and an ability that they can use as easily as they can breathe.
"Yes master" the cockroach demon replied and quickly went away, trying his beast to not bear the brunt of his master's anger right now.
Even after smashing the table, Mard Geer did not feel his anger dissipate. According to the demon, his meeting with Vermillion had only lasted a few seconds. The chances are there that he had predicted it before and was prepared as well. And if he was prepared, that means he knows too much. Karna had already shown that he knows the secret of the guild that they had held for so long and the fact that the demon was not disintegrated like all the other demons before shows that he knew about the revival technique.
"Just how long has that bastard known about us, how much has he planned ahead" Mard Geer spoke and when he looked at his hand, he saw it was shaking, for the first time ever, the demon who powers up with the fear of others is feeling the emotion himself.
For the first time ever in his life, Mard Geer felt like the reaper blade was on his neck, waiting for him to fall to his demise.
