David found himself in a state of disbelief. He had expected death as the stone encroached upon him, but instead, he remained conscious, his mind remarkably clear amidst the chaos. 'Am I about to be reincarnated again?' he pondered, dreading the possibility of leaving his mother so early.
Yet, just as swiftly as the stone had enveloped him, a burst of air erupted with him at the centre, dispersing the petrification. As the stone shards scattered, David became the epicentre of a swirling gale, the winds swirling around him with increasing intensity.
In this newfound state, David's perception shifted. The sensation of air enveloped him entirely, overpowering all other senses, but there was something more. As he focused on the space surrounding him, sparks of electricity crackled in the air.
Though he didn't understand how, David instinctively knew he was somehow controlling the air through his mere presence. The charged particles in the atmosphere responded to his unspoken commands, bending to his will in a display of raw power.
With an involuntary tug, the gale surged in scale and intensity, its force under his unwitting command. Though a normal child might have been terrified, David felt only exhilaration, his excitement uncontainable amidst the whirlwind of power surrounding him.
As the winds intensified and sparks crackled around David, his initial excitement gave way to confusion. Despite the surging electricity, he felt only a gentle tingling sensation, devoid of any discomfort. Casting a glance ahead, he found his mother gazing at him with a serene smile.
"So you finally awakened them," she remarked, her words tinged with a hint of knowing. Did she anticipate his newfound powers? It seemed impossible to surprise her at times, and though the wind and electricity were undeniably fascinating, all he really wanted was a nap. It had been a whole hour since his last one, after all. Growing boys need their sleep, or so they say. At least, he thought they said that.
"How did you know I'd get powers? Did you peek into the future again?" David inquired, seeking answers amidst the whirlwind of emotions and energy.
"No, I just knew the crystal around your neck was a Terrigen Crystal," she teased, her laughter blending with his own.
"Master, what the hell is going on!" Wong's voice broke through the moment, his confusion palpable. But instead of a serious response, all he received was the sound of laughter, shared between a mother and her son amidst the mysteries of their extraordinary world.
"Mum, how do I stop doing this," David said, gesturing to the whirlwind surrounding him, its energy crackling and swirling with unchecked intensity.
"What do you feel right now?" she replied, her voice calm and reassuring.
Right now, David felt like a whirlwind himself, a whirlwind of excitement and curiosity. The power coursing through him was electrifying, filling him with a sense of exhilaration he'd never experienced before. But amidst the thrill, there was also a sense of urgency. He needed to learn how to control this power, to rein in the swirling winds that danced around him if he ever wanted to get that nap.
His mother's gaze softened with understanding as she reached out to him. "Focus, David," she said gently. "Feel the energy flowing through you, but don't let it overwhelm you. You have the power to command it, to bend it to your will. Trust yourself, and you'll find the strength to calm the storm."
Her words resonated with him, grounding him in the midst of the chaos. With a deep breath, he closed his eyes and concentrated, reaching out with his mind to tame the tempest. But that did nothing. Then he remembered his connection to the electric sparks amongst the gale, so he focused on that. Slowly but surely, the whirlwind began to subside, the winds calming at his command.
As the last gusts of wind faded away, he opened his eyes to see his mother's proud smile. "You did it, David," she said, her voice filled with pride.
The three of them proceeded to leave the garden, and when David returned to his room with the intention of having a nap, he found sleep elusive. For once, he couldn't seem to quiet his mind; the excitement of his newfound powers filled him with restless energy. He was eager to experiment and explore the extent of his abilities, but uncertainty clouded his thoughts.
As he lay on his bed, pondering the nature of his powers, David couldn't shake the feeling of being connected to everything around him. It was as if he could sense the intricate dance of atoms and molecules that permeated the world. He had initially thought his abilities were related to air manipulation, but his recent experience had left him questioning that.
"Maybe it has something to do with atoms?" he mused aloud to himself. The idea intrigued him, sparking a new wave of curiosity. Determined to unravel the mystery, he made a mental note to ask his mother about it the next day.
With his mind still buzzing with excitement, David finally drifted off to sleep, his dreams filled with visions of swirling winds and crackling energy, hinting at the boundless potential that lay within him.

David woke up later than usual, feeling the consequences of his late-night pondering. With a sense of determination, he set out to find his mother and seek answers about his newfound abilities. Spotting her in the main hall engaged in conversation with one of her sorcerer students, he approached eagerly.
"Mum! Could you help me understand my powers?" he blurted out, unable to contain his curiosity.
"Of course, dear. Just give me 15 minutes," she replied, her attention momentarily diverted by her student's inquiries. David nodded and settled onto a nearby couch, deciding to take advantage of the wait by catching a quick nap.
When the Ancient One finally finished with her student and joined him on the couch, David wasted no time in expressing his confusion. "I don't understand what my powers are," he admitted, looking to her for guidance.
"Then, can you describe what you felt when you were using them yesterday?" she prompted, her tone gentle yet probing.
David recounted his experience, explaining how he felt a deep connection to everything around him while manipulating the air. It was as if he were tapping into some underlying force, guiding the winds with an unseen hand.
The Ancient One pondered his words, formulating a plan to gain further insight into his abilities. Uttering a spell and casting [TruthSight], her eyes took on a blue hue as she observed the world through a new lens.
"Use your powers for me, honey. Just a bit, try not to use it as much as yesterday," she instructed. David complied, summoning a gentle breeze with his abilities, though the electric sparks were noticeably absent this time.
As the Ancient One observed the environment through the TruthSight spell, she pieced together the nature of David's powers. "It seems you have the ability to manipulate ions, charged particles that exist in the atmosphere and within living organisms," she explained, her voice as calm as ever. "What can you do with such power? You're going to have to find that out for yourself."
David's eyes widened with wonder at the revelation. "That's way cooler than just air manipulation!" he exclaimed, his childish enthusiasm bubbling to the surface once more. As the surrounding breeze began to pick up in response to his excitement, he quickly refocused his thoughts to regain control.
As another sorcerer entered seeking the Ancient One's guidance, David took it as his cue to depart. With a renewed sense of purpose, he made his way to the back garden, eager to begin honing his newfound abilities. Although he had studied physics in his past life, his knowledge was limited to high school level concepts. If he was going to understand the intricacies of manipulating ions and electromagnetic forces, he'd need to delve deeper.
Arriving at the garden, David found a secluded spot where he could concentrate without distractions. Sitting down cross-legged on the grass, he closed his eyes and focused on the sensation of the charged particles around him. It was a strange feeling, like an invisible web of energy enveloping everything.
Opening his eyes, David began to experiment, attempting to manipulate the ions in the air with deliberate intent. At first, his efforts were clumsy and uncoordinated, resulting in little more than a gentle breeze. But as he persisted, he felt a minuscule improvement in his control, a subtle shift in the currents of energy responding to his commands.
With each attempt, David's understanding deepened, his usage of the powers was improving. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the garden, David reluctantly rose to his feet. Though he had only just begun his journey, he felt a sense of exhilaration, knowing that he was on the path to mastering his powers. With determination in his heart, he made his way back to his room, eager to expand his knowledge and unlock the secrets of his power.
