The Nine Courts were headed by chamberlains or chief ministers (qing 卿), one or more vice ministers (shaoqing 少卿), and assistant ministers (cheng 丞). They were subordinated to the Imperial Secretariat (shangshusheng 尚書省).
* Court of Imperial Sacrifices (Tài cháng sì 太常寺)
Information: In charge of conducting major state sacrificial ceremonies according to ritual regulations. It was one of the Nine Courts and normally under the supervision of the Ministry of Rites. Prior to the Qing dynasty, it was the most prestigious of the Nine Courts.
Head: Minister of Ceremonies (Tài Cháng 太常).
*Court of State Ceremonial (Hóng Lú Sì 鴻臚寺)
Information: In charge of the royal ceremonies.
Head: Minister Herald (Dà Hóng Lú 大鴻臚).
