"Sabby, my… daughter… I feel like I don't have much time left… Just always… remember that I love you so much… you and your brother, Enzo…" Albert spoke in his weak tone.
"No, Dad. Don't say that…" Sabrina held her father's hand tightly, shaking her head. "You are going to recover…"
Albert glanced at her with so much love. Despite feeling weak, he managed to flash a smile. "I am at ease knowing that Dominique is by your side. Where is he? I want to talk to him…"
"Sure, Dad." Sabrina took out her phone and dialed a number.
"Dad, he's not answering the phone, maybe he's busy right now. Don't worry, I'll go to the company."
A moment later, at Dominique's office.
The man was sitting on the couch, reading a piece of document in his hand. It looked like he was lost in his thoughts.
"Dom!" Her voice snapped Dominique back to the present.
Dominique lifted his head and was surprised to see her. He rose from his seat to face her. "How has your father been feeling lately?"
Sabrina took a deep sigh, sadness evident in her eyes. "He's been a bit weak… His health is steadily declining. The doctor said we have to prepare for the worst. He wants to see you and talk to you."
Dominique let out a sarcastic laugh upon hearing that as if he was rejoicing.
Sabrina was stupefied for a few seconds as she observed Dominique's strange reaction. For the first time, she saw her husband's distant and cold behavior
"What's wrong, Love?" Sabrina asked him in puzzlement, confusion mingled with her growing sense of anxiety.
Dominique had never treated her like this before. He was always considerate and gentle.
Without a second thought, Dominique handed her a stack of papers, his expression serious and calculated.
"Sign this," he sternly said.
"Love… What is this?" She smiled at him anxiously. "What kind of prank is this? This is not funny."
"I want a divorce," Dominique declared.
Sabrina's breath caught in her throat, a sudden wave of shock resurfacing on her face.
"Why? Why are you doing this? Did I do something wrong?" Sabrina stood frozen.
Meanwhile, Dominique smirked at her, unveiling his true motives.
"Simply because… I'm done with you."
"The old man is dying and I already acquired your entire family's wealth. You have no use for me anymore," he added, his eyes mocking her.
"W-What did you say?" She stammered in denial while shaking her head vehemently.
"What happened to your promises? You told me you love me. I felt it! Are they all lies?"
Bam!
Before Dominique could respond to her, the door of the office slid open. Sasha, Dominique's hot alluring secretary stepped into the room.
"Babe, is Mrs. Smith done signing the divorce paper?" She smiled at Sabrina tauntingly.
Upon reaching Dominique's spot, Sasha anchored her arms around him, proudly declaring herself as his mistress.
Sabrina's eyes widened, clenching her fists. "Are you having an affair with your secretary?!"
Not breaking their eye-to-eye contact, Dominique placed his hand on Sasha's waist and answered, "Yes."
Slap!
Sabrina managed to land a crisp slap on Dominique's right cheek. The loud sound resonated in the room.
Dominique just stared at her coldly and gritted his teeth in response to her, his hand rubbing the spot where he was hit.
"Dominique, How could you!!!"
One slap couldn't satiate Sabrina's fury so she threw several fierce punches at him, hitting Dominique's chest in a fit of uncontrolled rage. Though Dominique was the one receiving her punches, she was the one in pain.
"Stay away from him, Bitch!" Sasha exclaimed.
Sasha stepped forward, separating her from Dominique. She grabbed Sabrina's hair.
Since Sasha interfered, Sabrina fought back by pulling Sabrina's hair as well.
"Stop hurting Sasha!" Dominique pushed Sabrina forcefully away from Sasha. She hit the wall with a loud thud.
"Argh!" Sabrina winced in pain, yet she tried to steady her footing.
Sabrina darted her gaze back and forth between Dominique and Sasha.
"Laugh at me all you want. Fine! But don't expect me to cooperate. Sasha will stay a mistress as long as I live." She provoked them for the last time before dashing out of the office.
As she ran into the hallway, Sabrina suddenly felt dizzy. Soon, Sabrina's world seemed to spin out of control. And with a heavy thud, she collapsed to the floor, falling unconscious.
"Sir, your wife collapsed in the hallway!" An employee informed Dominique and Sasha.
Dominique was about to check on her but Sasha stopped him.
"You have an emergency meeting with the board of directors. Let me take care of her."
Dominique hesitated for a moment.
"Fine. Bring her to the hospital."
*****
Shortly after, in the hospital.
"Miss, don't worry about Mrs. Smith. She fainted because she's pregnant," the doctor joyfully shared the good news with Sasha.
Sasha's face turned pale the moment she heard that.
