Shido's body tumbled down the stairs, his cry of pain after having his heel broken was cut short by the sudden fall, and after a few seconds of rolling down the stairs, he came to a stop by crashing into the wall.
THUD!
"Eita porra! The guy's unconscious." Kazuki muttered in surprise, before speaking in a slightly louder voice in case anyone had heard the scream. "Don't worry Sensei, I'll help you!"
Kazuki then dropped the reams of paper at the top of the stairs and quickly descended. Reaching the unconscious Shido, he first looked around for any witnesses.
'Nobody around, success! Still with a pulse and breathing. Bad vases don't really
break. Now, life is good, but it can be even better. I saw some tapes up there...'
Lifting Shido's unconscious body, Kazuki carried him back to the room on the upper floor and, using various ribbons, tied Shido's arms and legs; he didn't tie his mouth because he hoped he would scream for help when he eventually woke up.
Contemplating his fine work, after leaving Shido trapped next to a metal cabinet that would make a lot of noise when he woke up, Kazuki dusted off his hands and walked out humming the opening of High School of the Dead by Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets, leaving the door open.
'Maybe this could be considered murder? I don't feel bad because he's garbage,
but this tranquility I feel scares me'. Kazuki thought.
Instead of returning to the classroom, Kazuki headed for the teachers' lounge. His footsteps echoed down the corridor as he continued to check the internet and especially social media to see how fast everything was happening. He tried to find Kyoko and stop her from going to the school gate, but he found only half a dozen teachers when he got there.
"Err, good afternoon. Could you tell me where Hayashi-sensei is?"
A teacher with short yellow hair, a black jacket, and an untrimmed mustache looked at Kazuki and, not realizing at first that he was a student, looked at him seriously and in a defensive tone said, "We can't give out information about our colleagues to strangers."
For a moment Kazuki didn't understand what he was saying. But, then he realized why, 'Just another infatuated fool', and laughed, which annoyed the teacher, but before he could speak he was interrupted by another teacher.
"Ahem, Kurosawa-san, Hayashi-sensei is in the infirmary. She said she was a bit dizzy and wanted to rest for a while."
"Thanks, teacher, you've helped me a lot. Look, I don't know if you'll listen to me, but the is some really worrying news on the internet about a dangerous virus, I think you should go home quickly." Kazuki, not waiting for an answer, turned and went straight to the infirmary. Leaving the teachers confused in the room.
'Well, you've been warned. If you can't be bothered to at least check the internet for news, that's not my problem.'
Perhaps he would never know, but that warning saved the life of the teacher who had given him the information he wanted.
...
The silent corridors of the school now echoed with his quick, determined steps. As he walked, Kazuki kept an eye on social media and the news on the internet, seeing increasingly frequent reports of zombie attacks. Today was the dreaded "Z-Day", but the world was still unaware of the impending chaos. He knew that society would soon collapse, and he was determined to survive, at any cost.
As they crossed the corridors, Kazuki mentally reviewed his preparations and plans. The world outside was about to change forever, and Kazuki was determined to survive.
'Maybe it seems like I'm leaving it a bit to luck and relying too much on plot armor, but I've had enough of worrying. I've done mine, now it's time to see what happens.'
Kazuki made a point of sending messages to a few people before entering the
infirmary.
"Hello~ Ara, Kazuki? What are you doing here at school? Is everything all right?"
Shizuka asked.
"Hi Shizuka, I'm fine, I just came to look for Kyoko. I was told she was here."
"Oh, she's asleep, she came here with a slight headache and she was tired too." Said Shizuka looking at Kazuki, "And I think I know why she was tired." She squinted her eyes a little accusingly.
"Yeah, maybe I know why she's tired," Kazuki said suggestively. And seeing Shizuka's eyes and mouth open in surprise, he continued. "We almost had a traffic accident this morning, someone fell asleep at the wheel and almost hit our car while we were on our way to school." He said with a little smile.
Shizuka started to pout as soon as she realized that Kazuki was playing with her,
but then changed to a look of concern.
"And you're all right? It was just a scare, right?"
"Thanks for your concern, but we are, I mean, Kyoko's a bit shaken up as you may have seen. By the way, we only have a short time to get ready to leave, can you wake her up please?"
"What do you mean WE don't have much time? Classes aren't over yet. Let her
rest a little longer."
Kazuki decided to show Shizuka everything he was seeing on the internet. Seeing the videos, the people running around and the chaos, Shizuka became visibly disturbed.
"That... Is that true? You're not kidding me, are you?"
"I wish I was, but it seems to be happening everywhere. That's why I've come to call Kyoko and you to get out of here as soon as possible."
"Hnn, Kazuki? Did you come to see me?" Kyoko, who had just woken up, asked. Kazuki approached her, hugged her, and kissed her on the cheek, making Shizuka blush at the sight.
"Yes, we'll need to get ready. Something serious is happening out there." He then proceeded to show the same videos to Kyoko, who was rightly terrified. "I need you to do me a favor, go to the teachers' lounge and get the minibus key and your car key, do it discreetly, luckily the things I bought can be very useful to us now and I want to transport them to the bus."
"Kazuki, wouldn't it be better to warn everyone? Maybe if we're together it'll be easier." Kyoko asked, which oddly enough was answered by the nurse Shizuka.
"Hayashi-san, staying in this school full of teenagers on a normal day is exhausting enough, imagine having to look after their safety with everyone panicking? It would be suicide."
Kazuki was surprised by her words but soon remembered that the airhead was quite harsh with her words from time to time in the original.
Kyoko then, after some thought, could easily visualize the situation in which she would be forced to maintain order amid a drastic situation and suddenly all the will to deal with it vanished. She then looked at Kazuki and Shizuka, nodded, and went to get the keys.
"Shizuka, put everything that could be useful to us in bags and boxes please, we're taking everything with us. And I'm definitely counting on you coming with us, see? There's no way I'm leaving you here."
"Ara, ara~ I won't give in to violence, you see!" She said, pouting as she clenched her fists as if she were going to fight.
'How can this adorable creature act like this while the world is going to play for
Vasco'.
While Shizuka was tidying up, Kyoko came back and Kazuki went to the parking lot with boxes of pharmacy supplies, at least what they could get in a school infirmary, to put on the bus.
They also took the opportunity to get the boxes from the trunk of her car. At the sight of the crossbow Kyoko looked at Kazuki with a questioning arched eyebrow.
"I told you I wanted to go camping and do lots of things, didn't I? Archery always seemed cool to me but I never had time for it, and since I was here I wanted to try a lot of different things and I kind of overdid it, hehe." Kazuki said jokingly.
"The good thing is that this will be useful to us." He picked up the box and took it to the bus. After loading the bus and closing the doors again, they returned to the infirmary. Inside, Kazuki was surprised because he couldn't believe that so many people would take notice of his message.
"Well, I think we were right to prepare the bus..." He said in surprise.
In the ward were Shizuka Marikawa, Kohta Hirano, Saya Takagi, Saeko Busujima, Shura Kirigakure, Kasumi Miwa, Miku Yuuki and for some reason Fumiko Taniuchi.
"Kazuki? What's going on?" asked Kohta.
"I know you must be confused, it'll be easier for me to show you what's going on out there." Kazuki showed the video for the third time today.
And Saya was the first to say, "This is some kind of joke, right? Do you really think I'm going to believe that? I followed the fatso because he said something serious had happened and to come to the infirmary. And because he's not one for jokes I came, but this is too much. What you've shown looks more like an advertisement for a movie!"
Kazuki, noticing that everyone was a little skeptical, began to try to explain when
he was interrupted by the school's loudspeakers squealing...

This is Portuguese to 'Hey Guys!'
This is a short chapter, I didn't want to leave you guys with only one this week. But for some reason this chapter was HARD to write, I couldn't get the words to mean what I wanted. So it was more tiring than the previous one that flowed easily.
The next chapter will come on Tuesday, my schedule got all messed up because my job became more demanding and I also joined a DnD campaign on Sunday night, we're doing a party full on shorties so everyone is going for a small race, I'm gonna play an Air Genasi Bard, School of Spirits, so less time to write. I will try my best to deliver at least 2 chapters/week as I said in the synopsis. 1 on Tuesday and the other on Thursday or Friday.
I understand that some might be unsatisfied that the MC didn't finish the job, but I don't see Kazuki at this point being ok with murdering someone in cold blood with his own hands you know? I think it would be out of character of him, so the best he can do is cripple him and leave him to his own luck, after all, he just doesn't want him on the bus so whatever he does later isn't his problem.
To me that makes sense giving the character's actions until now.
That's it for today, Cya'round~
