The Chen Dalong who was the subject of everyone's discussion was currently blazing a trail, not metaphorically, but in the literal sense.

Chen Dalong was leading at the front, and each swing of his large knife severed a great swath of weeds or brambles.

It was not just him doing this; the people following behind were doing the same.

The others were responsible for cutting down the weeds that hadn't been thoroughly cleared, thereby widening the path further.

In the process, they inevitably faced attacks from mutated insects, but this path had already been taken once, leaving at most only a fifth of the insects they encountered before.

This was definitely easier for the whole team, but for Chen Dalong taking the lead, the mutated insects attacking him were anything but scarce.

For he was stirring up the hornet's nest—as the undergrowth was cleared, the otherwise possibly hidden insects that wouldn't attack now unsurprisingly launched their assaults.
