Bab 30: Attack
"Finally, they are going to do it," Aru thought, finding that his effort to convince Mala was worth it.
Aru found an elevated position away from the shelter to observe the current situation through the open door of the shelter.
Now, the rank 3 warrior, Das, and Mala, the medic of the tribe, were approaching the patient covered in bandages carefully. They were about to open the bandages and look for signs of demons.
'Of course, he is a demon. A demon with more than 30 units of spirit energy,' Aru commented in his mind while looking at the system pop-up window.

He was constantly using the system to observe the information of the patient. The data the system displayed was crystal clear. There was no reason to doubt it.
'The maximum amount of spirit energy a rank 2 warrior has is about 50 units. The demon still has 31 units of energy. And it's steadily going down with time. It could only mean one thing. Even now, the demon was using up the spirit energy to heal itself.'
'That's a good thing for us. Healing itself means that it has yet to reach its best condition. In a battle, that is favourable to us.'
'Das is a rank 3 warrior. He is close in strength to the chief with a spirit energy limit of more than 80 units. He will be pivotal in neutralising the threat.'
'But I don't need to think about any of that. What I should worry about is my mission to eliminate the nemesis lifeform.'
'Hey, system. Will you reward me if I am not the one killing it? And can I still absorb the spirit energy from the corpse?' Aru asked in his mind. But as usual, there was no one there to answer him. The system was not sentient and it couldn't answer Aru's questions.
Das and Mala reached the position near the patient. Taking a short breath, Mala began to guide Das in undoing the bandages.
The chief and other warriors surrounded them, carefully observing the situation.
"Once a demon infects a host, will it become as smart as the host?" This question suddenly popped up in Aru's mind.
Until now, they believed the actions of the demon were entirely instinctual. But what if it could be as smart as a person?
"Ah, crap!"
Suddenly, the patient who was lying unconscious on the bed opened his eyes. Without wasting a second, he jumped up and dashed away.
Even before Mala and Das could cut off the bandages, the patient seemed to have sensed the danger and was forced to act.
"Demon!"
A single thought appeared in everyone's mind.
There was nothing to doubt anymore.
No way a person on death's door could jump up and dash like that.
However, before the demon could dash out of the shelter, a giant hand came towards its face and punched it.

The impact threw the body of the demon out of the shelter. Those who were outside, observing the situation, had their eyes widen in shock at that moment.
The punch from the chief was heavy and filled with power. It had scraped off a hefty amount of flesh from the demon's head.
You could see the white of the skull appearing outside.
But that itself was not the reason everyone was shocked. It was the thick tendrils of blood surrounding the injured skull, trying to heal it.
Everyone realized that what the people from Artha said about the demons was true. It was a nasty being capable of pure evil. Such a thing shouldn't have the right to live.
Although the demon was injured by the punch, it quickly stood up. It had no will to fight at that moment. Escaping was its priority. Maybe due to it infecting a human, it was showing signs of rational thoughts and intelligence. Turning away from the camp, it began to run desperately towards the north.
But the warriors were not going to allow that.
The chief, along with the other warriors, had already surrounded it.
"KILL IT!" The chief roared emotionally.
Even until a moment ago, he was desperately praying for the patient not to be a demon. After all, the rank 2 was one he was familiar with and had the opportunity to teach. But that hope was dashed away when the patient jumped off the bed.
The chief could only steel his emotions and give the order to kill.
It was a warrior's duty to protect the tribe from danger.
"AAHH!"
The warriors surrounding it gave a war cry as they ran forward to block the demon.
The demon was uninhibited by the pain. Even with life-threatening injuries, it moved agilely, weaving through the warriors coming towards it. It burned a large quantity of spirit energy, even causing damage to its body to escape.

The chief infused a dagger with spirit energy and threw it at the demon.

With that, the speed of the demon decreased.
Taking hold of the opportunity, the other warriors began to attack it with their weapons.

Swords, daggers, spears, and arrows, everything pierced the demon, turning it into a bloody mess.
The chief, with a melancholic expression, dashed forward with his swords and chopped the head, finalizing the attack.
Or so, they thought.
*Tremble*
Although the head was sliced off, the body of the demon still trembled on the ground. Thick tendrils of blood were still forming outside its body to heal itself.
"It's not dead."
The thicker tendrils slithered on the ground, moving towards the chopped head, trying to retrieve bits and pieces of itself to repair the body.
'This scene sent a chill down everyone's spine.'
Even after all that, the demon was not dead.
Everyone had the same thought, 'It's an unkillable creature.'
Now, imagine if there were hundreds of such demons. How would they win the fight against that? The abysmal odds began to demoralize the warriors.
"It can be killed."
Suddenly, Das stepped forward.
"There is someone in our tribe who killed a demon."
