"Is that really Isla Serpiente," Adam questioned.
It looked nothing like the official school website that he checked up to last night.
Adam was just saying out loud what everyone else was thinking.
As the yacht sped up, more gyrations from the chapped water rocked the yacht.
Eventually, Charm saw what everyone else was staring at, a formidable shadow rising up through the mist.
Nothing about the vision before her looked welcoming much less like school property.
Instead the island looked forbidden.
Right now, Charm was thinking they should take their chances with the water spouts than go any further.
It started to rain again and it was coming down heavily.
Jagged cliffs jutted out from the pounding waves, whose aggressive tumult filled the air and seemed to go against the yacht as it drew nearer.
The yacht didn't feel normal like earlier as it passed through the narrow channel.
One false move could be detrimental.
Veering off course meant that they would be headed straight for the rocky cliffs.
Charm could already picture in her mind the yacht colliding with a mass of crusty black rocks covered with seaweed and shells.
Next thing she knew Zinc wrapped his arms around her.
He too had been watching in alarm as the yacht passed too dangerously close to the rocks for comfort.
Everyone had been staring at what they could see above the water and no one was paying attention to what was happening below.
A loud screeching sound could be heard below their feet and the sound reminded Charm of a tin can being opened.
Followed by the sound of water rushing into the yacht.
Even though they couldn't see it yet, all knew it was only a matter of time before they started to sink.
Leaving them with no choice but to brace for impact.
As the yacht's alarm was triggered when the howling wind slammed the yacht against a large mass of rocks.
Everyone cried out in warning as they got shoved to the other side of the yacht.
Zinc sheltered her from the brunt of the fall, as they fell in a heap to the yacht's floor and were all robbed of their breath.
"Everyone okay?" asked Brendan.
Groans from all around greeted him in return but at least everyone was still conscious.
Panicked, the Captain yelled below, "everyone get above deck now, we are taking in water."
The Alarm rang out loudly accompanied by flashing red lights.
Everything was a blur as the group scrambled up the steps to get to the deck.
On deck the floor was flooded and she saw nothing but sea water.
If it wasn't for Zinc assisting her it would be hard to maintain her balance.
The Captain was giving out orders but he could not be everywhere.
"Hold on to the railings!" the Captain yelled out.
It was better to be above deck than below should they all need to bail from the yacht.
Just a little bit closer and they would all be able to swim to the shore.
The Captain paid the panicked voices no heed as he tried to concentrate.
Only he alone had knowledge of how to command the yacht.
When the yacht moved sharply to the right he had to return to the helm.
Buffering in the wind, vision blinded by the rain while the Captain struggled to grasp control as the wind swirled around them.
The yacht hit another land mass again and this time around she slipped out of Zinc's grasp.
Brendan shouted her name as she slid past him, "Charm!"
He tried to grab her but it happened too fast as her hands were flailing wildly and she tried to grab on to anything but it was too late.
Charm was over the side of the yacht, falling, then a loud splash as she entered the sea.
Freezing chill of the water closed over her head as her eardrums filled with water.
The life jacket brought her back up in the water and she was bobbing on the surface.
Charm felt like she was barely skimming the surface of the water even as she tried her best to keep her head and nose above water.
She was still tired from saving Brendan's life earlier and Charm didn't have the strength to move her feet much less paddle towards the yacht that was slowly moving away.
Not knowing if she was in shark infested waters she panicked when something brushed her foot.
"Calm down Charm, if you keep struggling I'll have to knock you out to save you."
She recognized the voice and the owner was Zinc and she breathed a sigh of relief.
It was hard to make him out over the crashing waves.
She choked on water from another wave crested and washed over her drawing her under.
A mighty kick from Zinc brought them both back up to the surface and she relaxed into his strong capable arms.
Charm was partly in awe because the strength from his sinewy muscles was great.
Too tired to move on her own, she decided not to hinder him and allowed him to pull her to shore.
Finally, they reached dry land and she stumbled and lay helpless on the sand.
Gulping down air as her chest heaved, too much excitement in one day.
She felt a migraine coming.
As Charm sat, she tried to get her thoughts in order but she was feeling overwhelmed.
"Charm?" said Zinc but even though he was next to her his voice sounded distorted and far away.
Once again she lost consciousness and had no choice but to trust her safety to Zinc who had rescued her.
She woke up with a start, where was she?
Charm peered around at the unfamiliar room where she lay in bed.
As she tried to sit up her head started to hurt again so she lay back down with a slight groan of unease.
There were two beds in the room and the other was empty.
Then the door latch clicked, making her look to see who would enter through the door.
