Bab 57: Chapter 57: A Kick Sends Him Flying (Edited)

Clark heard the words and sneered in his heart, but on the surface, he remained calm and said, "Since you have this concern, I will tell everyone today a method to quit my novel."

Watching the impression score increase rapidly backstage, Clark deliberately took a deep breath, and after a few seconds, when he had everyone's full attention, he continued, "Battle Through the Heavens has been published for a third of its total length, and it is expected to officially conclude in the second half of next year."

As soon as these words were out, the venue immediately erupted with wails of despair.

Clark smiled indifferently and said, "Actually, there's no need to feel sorry. All literary works come to an end someday, and my book is no exception."

"This also answers the gentleman's earlier question. Once the novel is finished, the addiction will naturally be cured. Even if someone wants to read it a second time, knowing the ending, they won't be too addicted, right?"

Hearing Clark's clever response, the host sighed in relief and hurriedly asked the question on everyone's mind, "Mr. Clark, after Battle Through the Heavens ends, do you plan to continue writing novels?"

"I've already thought of two great ideas for my second novel, one in a fantasy style and the other in a sci-fi theme. However, I'm still hesitating about which one to write first. But I think by the day Battle Through the Heavens concludes, I should be able to make a decision."

There were four sharp-tongued supporting hosts on stage, bombarding him with various tricky and bizarre questions in turns, but Clark tackled them head-on, with a strategy of counteracting force with force. The entire first half of the show was like a grand spectacle of verbal combat, reminiscent of Zhuge Liang's legendary exploits.

It was as if he only needed to pull out a feather fan and say, "I have a word, please listen quietly."

Today, the host essentially became part of the background, barely getting a word in edgewise.

But even so, he was thoroughly enjoying himself.

Exciting!

Clark's confrontational style was simply too thrilling!

Years of hosting experience told him that today's episode would surely set a new record in viewership ratings. As the host, he was riding the wave of this success!

The first half of the Q&A session ended reluctantly under the host's reluctance, followed by a few minutes break before the show moved on to the more relaxed chat segment.

Typically, the real excitement of the show was in the first half, with the second half serving as a consolation for the guests, in case they felt too challenged in the first half. Many viewers would switch channels right after the first half.

However, today was an exception.

Mainly because Clark's performance in the first half was too outstanding, everyone was eager to see what else he could offer in the second half.

And indeed, Clark did not disappoint the audience.

After a routine discussion with the host on some milder topics, the host casually asked, "Mr. Clark, we all know that the fighting scenes you write are incredibly thrilling. How do you come up with such exciting combat scenes without having learned to fight?"

This question was rather insipid, and Clark could have responded with any number of fabrications.

However, Clark surprised the audience by saying, "Who said I haven't learned?"

The host's eyes lit up, sensing a moment that would grab everyone's attention, and quickly followed up, "You've really learned? Is it Chinese kung fu, like Bruce Lee?"

Clark nodded: "Yes."

The host asked again, "Could you demonstrate for us and the viewers at home today?"

"I can," Clark, eager to impress further, said, "But if I'm practicing alone, those who haven't learned to fight might not understand clearly. How about we make today's demonstration simple and direct? I'll just show everyone the speed and power typical of martial artists."

"Oh?" The host was now even more intrigued, asking, "Do you need any props?"

"Prepare a 300-pound sandbag for me. Just showing my kicking speed and power should suffice."

A 300-pound sandbag?

The host frowned at the request, wondering where he would find such an item in the studio.

"Let me do it," said the first white and chubby person who asked a question in the first half, suddenly speaking up. "Let me wear protective gear and feel your speed and power."

"No!" Clark immediately shook his head: "You won't be able to withstand my power."

Seeing Clark's refusal, the chubby person's eyes sparkled, as if he had found a flaw in Clark's armor. He quickly responded, "If Mr. Clark is worried about hurting me, there's no need. I can wear full body armor. That should allow me to take a kick, right?"

"Still no," Clark continued to refuse. "Unless you cover the wall and the floor beneath it with padding, it's still too risky."

"That's too much trouble," the chubby person shook his head. "I don't believe you can kick me all the way to that wall."

Clark shrugged: "Believe it or not, it doesn't matter. I'm not going to take that risk."

"Then let's do it your way!" The chubby person became even more convinced that Clark was bluffing. "But I want to make a bet with Mr. Clark. If I can take your kick without any part of my body touching the padded wall, I'll kiss a donkey's butt. What if you lose?"

The chubby person had quite the taste! Clark frowned inwardly but shrugged indifferently, signaling he didn't care.

However, this nonchalant gesture was seen by the chubby person as a lack of confidence, making him even more smug.

The host and the show's crew welcomed the bet that would increase the program's attention. Shortly after, everything was ready.

The chubby person was fully armored, holding a board to test leg strength, and taunted Clark: "Kid, it's too late for regrets now."

Unfazed by the chubby person's arrogance, Clark simply asked, "Ready?"

"Bring it on!"

"Bang!" The audience saw only a flash of Clark's leg before the chubby person was sent flying backward, crossing a distance of five to six meters, and crashing heavily against the padded wall, producing a dull thud.

The entire studio seemed to tremble slightly under the impact of the collision.

And the viewers at home saw the screen shake slightly the moment the chubby person's back hit the wall.
