The worms usually grow inside the stomach and intestines of various living creatures, from which they derive nourishment.

Once these worms are agitated in a certain manner, they could end up exploding. The amount of nutrition they have gathered is proportional to the intensity of the explosion! However, like everything else, there is a limit to this as well.
