Bab 296: My Precious Lithira

Lithira clung to Lucien, her arms wrapped tightly around him as silent sobs wracked her body. 

She couldn't find her voice, only the sound of her soft gasps breaking the silence. Her greatest fear now was that he might leave—might turn his back on her once he heard the truth.

She dreaded that he would be angry, not only because of the enemies they shared but because she was at the heart of it all. 

The organization, the rune matrix—they existed because of her.

For so long, she had buried her past, too afraid to share her mistakes. But things had changed, her emotions spiraling out of control, leaving her with no choice but to tell him everything.

"I'm sorry, Lucien… The rune matrix—it's active again because of me," she whispered through broken breaths. 

"But… but my mother said she destroyed it, she killed them. I don't know how… how this could happen..." Her voice trembled, fear and guilt evident in every shaky word.
