After about a year, life had settled into a semblance of peace for Nabu and Kingu. Kingu had found success as a businessman and settled into family life, marrying Beltis and preparing for the arrival of their child.

Nabu, on the other hand, had become a lord over a modest estate, building a life with his beloved and enjoying the tranquility that had followed their victory.

However, this period of peace was shattered when the Izdubar Empire launched a new invasion, threatening the borders of their lands and alarmingly close to the capital. In response, the King issued a hasty decree, calling for mobilization and war once more.

Kingu and Beltis shared a farewell. "Beltis, you should go to Nabu's land," Kingu said, his voice lached with worry.

"It's far from the front lines. I promise I will return to you and our baby." He kissed her tenderly on the temple, his hand resting gently on her swollen belly.
