The overnight journey was finally over when the plane landed at the airport in the early morning hours. Still sleepy, Emily walked beside Talon down the hallway toward the exit gate.
Talon glanced at Emily and smiled. "Didn't you have any luggage in the baggage claim?"
Emily started, surprised. "Where are we supposed to pick it up?"
Half-panicked, Emily looked at the small suitcase in her right hand and the backpack hanging on her back. She lightly slapped Talon's arm.
"I kept all my things in the cabin, Talon!" Emily grumbled. "Don't scare me like that."
Seeing Emily's pout, Talon chuckled. "Okay, I'm sorry. How about I buy you a coffee to make up for it?"
"With donuts. Donuts sound delicious right now."
