The storm's howl outside battered the door, and the creeping cold felt like it was freezing their skin and piercing their bones, making even the slightest movement difficult. Talon reached for the water pan and held his hands over the steam.
"Come…" he beckoned Crystal closer. She smiled and wrapped her hands around the layer of the pan.
"Warm," she whispered.
Talon smiled and nodded in agreement.
He then checked Crystal's right leg again, noticing the swelling, "Let me try to ease the pain, okay."
Pouring some hot water into his hand, he gently applied it to her shin.
"Agh…" Crystal winced softly.
Talon gently applied a warm compress to her swollen skin, wiping it with care. Crystal let out a small laugh and met his gaze.
"Feeling better?" he asked.
Crystal nodded, smiling softly. "I laughed when you fell, but you're still taking care of me," she remarked.
