Lucas was deliberately provoking anger. Although his words sounded like he was just playing around, every word he said clearly stabbed Evelyn.
Evelyn's face did not change, remaining cold even as her gaze became sharper. "Do I have to lock you up again in this little house with one window?" she replied calmly, but with pressure in her voice. Those words, though softly spoken, felt like a deep threat.
Lucas chuckled, sounding sarcastic. "As if you could," he replied casually. "I'm too big for that little house. A little house with one window and no door in a remote place. How long have you kept me there? Dozens of years, maybe?" Lucas stared at Evelyn, a faint smile clearly etched on his face, as if mocking her dark past.
