*Ajax POV*
'Damn it.'
I ended up sleeping far longer than I had expected, taking 6 hours to recover from the exhaustion, I'd basically woken up at noon.
As I got ready, instead of heading out to train or getting ready for a contract, I decided to read my notebook.
I felt the more time I spent in this world, the worse my memory of the novel became as such I'd always read the notes, I'd written to make sure I didn't miss anything.
Knowing the information was getting less and less reliable, I primarily focused on one thing, items.
The location of items had little reason to change, which is why I'd written the locations down in detail.
The problem was that most of these locations didn't exist yet or were extremely hard to get to.
Every item that I had listed had risks that far outweighed the reward.
I'd considered asking Adam for a favor, basically using him as a bodyguard to get items I had no reason getting.
That would raise too many concerns, and I also had personal problems with that.
Maybe childishly, I didn't want to put myself in a situation where my survival was entirely dependent on another human being.
The lowest risk item was a newly created field, a regular forest that had suddenly become populated by monsters, the weakest of which were E tier.
In essence, somewhere I had no business being as the reward was an item that could be used as an alchemical ingredient.
Only by mixing said item with an extremely potent potion would one get anything worth the trip.
Unfortunately, or fortunately, I had that now.

Elixir of Recovery (A tier)
A potion of great restorative powers created by a master alchemist. Capable of bringing someone back from the verge of death.

Nix opened her usually closed eyes as she stared up at the bottle and the golden swirling liquid inside.
When I first got it from that fire mage, I immediately thought of selling it.
Though, I quickly realized what a mess this would create. I'd likely be put under pretty heavy questioning regarding its origins.
Bedsides, while I was greedy. Money was not a primary concern as of now.
Storing it away and picking Nix up, I decided to follow through with the rather stupid plan.
Why was it stupid? I didn't know what the result of mixing the valuable item and the elixir was.
The risk averse part of me told me to simply save the elixir for a rainy day, but the idiotic and curious part of me was a lot stronger.
I can only hope I don't end up wasting two very precious items.
The forest wasn't far, a new field more dangerous than most, it was pretty unpopular.
The one to find the herb in the original novel was the mad alchemist Velkar, as the name suggests, he wasn't particularly a good guy.
In fact, the potion I had was probably made by him, he gave them out to anyone with enough money, who wasn't interested in arresting him for his various atrocities.
He was the mad scientist type, often killing strong awakened to see if the organs modified by mana could be used as alchemical ingredients.
He was also the one who discovered what I was going to attempt.
The forest, previously known as King Magnus Reserve was renamed to field 14 and now only allowed the awakened to enter.
There were some people here still, with how many awakened there are now, there are no truly empty fields.
After being instructed on which monster to look out for, I headed into the forest.
Monsters preferred such terrain, after all the hunger of a mana beast could not be satiated so easily.
The trees were always sturdier than normal but one thing that was noticeable among these was that they were fruit bearing.
Fruits akin to ripened apples hung from the trees, many falling to the ground as beasts resembling a possum and a hawk fought over them.
I took out my bow as I observed them, coating myself in a thin layer of dark mana while hiding in the shadow of a tree.
The possum took extremely quick steps darting around the bird as its tail began to crystallize whereas the bird swept down from the tree, it's talons resembling sharp steel daggers.
Suddenly stopping and jumping towards the bird, the possum rotated its body midair, using a tail whip attack at the bird.
The bird however simply weaved under the tail and pierced the possum with its talons.
Letting out a dying screech, the possum was carried up to a branch before savagely being ripped apart.
Deciding not to get close to the beasts, I moved further into the center of the forest despite my instincts telling me to pull back.
Seeing trees with gashing claw marks, I was aware that I was invading the territory of a pretty dominant beast.
However, what I was looking for was also just up ahead as I could hear the sound of rushing water.
Sticking close to the shadows I advanced in as the rushing water got louder and louder.
Alert for beasts I approached a clearing, a flowing stream of water in the center with a stone cave entrance nearby.
In the rushing water I saw plenty of aquatic beasts but more prominently there was a bear, drinking water from the stream.
At 10 foot in length, it's brown fur and paws resembled that of a normal bear until it reached up to its neck.
Here the fur was replaced by brown and white feathers as once the bear raised its head one would notice further abnormalities.
Its mouth was replaced by a beak and its eyes were large yellow and black unblinking eyes.
An owlbear? What was one doing-
I froze in place as my thoughts went silent yet my instincts screamed.
For the owlbear had suddenly snapped it's neck to an unnatural degree and stared right at me.
Sorry for fewer chapters, I've been having a few blocks recently.
