Seeking solace, I settled onto a rickety stool at the village bar, needing a drink to quell the storm of emotions within. The nagging question loomed over me – if she wasn't in the village, where could she have disappeared to?

The truth gnawed at me. I couldn't fathom why she was so afraid of me, even after I had pledged my unwavering love to her throughout my life. My frustration reached a boiling point, and I struck the table with a force that drew the collective gaze of the bar's patrons. I cared little if their whispers grew louder; my struggle was to keep the beast within me at bay, to avoid any potential violence.
