Bab 40: Less Gossip, The Better

Chen Ru had dragged himself out of bed in the middle of the night because he could not hold his bladder anymore, but just as he was about to step out, he overheard the creak of the front door and faint footsteps heading toward Song Zhuyu's room. And who could it be if not the crimson-haired man himself? 

Glancing at the clock, Chen Ru was surprised to find it was only a few minutes before three in the morning.

What business did Song Zhuyu have outside at this ungodly hour? Was he performing an exorcism or investigating the hidden secrets of the island, by any chance? If so, why didn't he wake Chen Ru up?!

Indignation and curiosity wrestled in Chen Ru's mind, leaving him unable to fall asleep again all the way into the morning. He lay motionlessly on the bed with his hands clasped atop his stomach, staring blankly at the ceiling as the night sky outside his window slowly morphed into a burst of golden hues that signified the arrival of dawn.
