Bab 34: Eve Cries
A few minutes later, after Eve managed to calm down; she and Silvia sat facing each other with a table full of dishes between them.
"You're the worst subordinate!" Eve pouted cutely. Using the silver knife that was given to her, she cut one diagonal slice of the chocolate raspberry cake. After placing the slice of cake on her plate, she could not help but lick her lips. The aroma was absolutely divine. The aroma of the rich, dark chocolate and the fresh, fruity fragrance of raspberries caused her mouth to water.
Eve was unable to wait any longer. Not caring for cutlery or manners, she grabbed the cake with her bare hands and promptly took a bite. The flavor of the cake immediately released into her mouth. She had expected the cake to be dense and fudgy, but it was light and fluffy. The rich chocolate and the tartness of the raspberries created a harmonious balance.
Eve could only give praise. "Delicious!"
Immediately after her praise, she took another bite. "So good!" The cake was perfect!
And another bite.
And another.
With each bite, Eve gave out praise.
Meanwhile, Silvia watched Eve eating bite after bite while she ate the cake elegantly with a knife and fork. "Fufufu and you're the worst master~!" Silvia giggled seductively. Despite having to do Eve's work, she always felt fortunate that Eve was her master. The Spirit Realm was beautiful but Silvia was thankful that she had been born alongside Eve, instead of being born in the Spirit Realm. Despite Eve being an oddball. She was an oddball that she loved.
The Spirit Realm was a separate closed-off Dimension only accessible by Spirits or by those they allowed entry. It was the Holy Ground of the Spirits. The place where most of the Spirits were born. Spirits like any other Race were born from the union of two Spirits. However, unlike other Races, Spirits could also be born in a different way. They could be born alongside a Being who was beloved by Nature.
In the meantime, outside of the castle walls. The residents of Hope City continued to shout.
"Goddess!"
"Goddess!"
"Goddess!"
"...What goddess?" Eve charmingly pouted. "Can't they see I'm busy?" She added while chewing.
"Goddess!" However, the shouts continued without pause.
"..." Eve was speechless. She swallowed the remaining pieces of cake in her mouth and then looked toward where the noise was coming from. Eve's pink eyes glowed once more allowing her to see through her castle and onto the street.
There she saw hundreds of thousands of Humans all with practically star-like eyes as they fervently yelled 'Goddess'.
Eve shifted her gaze to Silvia and asked with a frown, "Can't you shut them up? And why the hell are they here?"
"I can turn the soundproof barrier on." Silvia replied expressionlessly.
"..." Eve felt like strangling Silvia "...And you didn't do that before …because?" She questioned while waving her fist around in a threatening manner.
"You did not ask." Silvia replied matter-of-factly and then snapped her fingers to turn the soundproof barrier on.
Suddenly, the shouting stopped. No, more precisely, the shouting could not penetrate the transparent barrier that formed around the castle.
Once the noise was gone, Eve asked, "For how long did I slumber?"
"Exactly one month, two days, sixteen hours, and nine seconds." Silvia replied precisely.
Eve was stunned. Her mouth opened and closed, in the end, she could only make a sound of dissatisfaction. "Humph!" No wonder she still felt tired. It was all Silvia's fault. Had she not dispelled the soundproof barrier then her precious sleep would not have been disturbed.
"That is one month too early… no, that is three years too early." She asserted with three raised fingers to emphasize her point. Her gaze then shifted to Silvia, silently questioning why her precious rest was disturbed.
"Have you forg-" Silvia paused, shook her head bitterly before continuing "Knowing you, you forgot didn't you!? ...Or pretending as if you forgot what is coming up."
*Munch Munch*
"Hmm? …W-what do you mean?" Eve stuttered as she avoided eye contact with Silvia.
Of course, Eve remembered the Trial that was coming up, but she would rather do paperwork than leave her territory.
Thinking of all those smelly men who always stared at her with eyes full of lust made her want to vomit. Just how shameless were they? They were super shameless. Big perverts! Eve knew she was drop-dead gorgeous, perfect, and the epitome of cuteness, but that did not mean she liked being stared at with lust.
What made her even more furious was that they did not even know what she looked like, only her mother, father, and Silvia were allowed to see her appearance. When she was born, her entire body had been shrouded in pink mist, not allowing even the nurse who delivered her to see her appearance. It was the same for her mother when she was born. As a Royal Succubus, only their husband or those they allowed could look upon their visage.
Knowing she could not pretend any longer, she thought hard of a solution to her problem.
A few seconds later, as if she had come up with a brilliant plan, she clapped her hands and with great enthusiasm asked, "Silvia how about you go instead of me!? Won't that work!?"
"... Eeeeve~!" Silvia stared intensely at Eve, who stared back without being scared. However, the intensity of Silvia's gaze combined with her guilty conscience caused her to look away.
"...W-well…b-but…*sniffle* I don't want to go *sniffle*!" Eve's beautiful pink large eyes became watery, as if she was about to burst into tears.
Silvia crossed her arms in front of her chest, unintentionally causing them to appear even larger, much to Eve's annoyance.
"Do you think that will work on me?" Silvia asked with mild amusement in her voice.
"Humph!" As if it were all a lie, Eve's 'tears' that were threatening to burst disappeared as if they never existed and then she turned her face away in defiance. "I don't want to go!" She complained in a barely audible voice.
