Bab 69: Chapter 68 : Resentment
'What in the bloody hell?' Orion thought as he felt a massive headache as he collapsed to his knees and vomited blood! It felt like his head was about to split down the middle!
Kadabra and Rhydon were shocked. Especially Rhydon as he didn't understand what was happening. Kadabra didn't hesitate and immediately covered the three of them in Psychic energy and teleported away!
Some distance away, an instructor from the Saffron Gym looked towards Orion's position and wondered in confusion, 'Hmm? How did it disappear all of a sudden? Was someone there? Or did something else happen?'
He was about to investigate when he noticed a commotion in the army as some Trainers were struggling against the final struggle of some wild Pokemon. Since the red wave had disappeared, he decided to first help them. While he helped them, a stray Hyper Beam hit the place where Orion was hiding previously, destroying all evidence including the blood that he had vomited.
Meanwhile, Kadabra teleported Orion back to the balcony. Mr. Mime noticed their appearance again but didn't do anything after recognizing that it was the same person who had left earlier.
However, that was the least of Orion's concerns. "Kadabra" "Rhydon"
Both Rhydon and Kadabra were very worried as Orion vomited two more mouthfuls of blood! Orion finally stopped, but his head still hurt way too much. A hint of redness appeared in his eyes.
He took a few deep breaths and said, "I'm fine. It's just that I'm having crazy headaches. Kadabra, clear this blood. Teleport it somewhere in the forest. Then teleport us to the meditation room."
Orion coughed again. Kadabra quickly followed his instructions. Seconds later, they were in the meditation room. Orion wished to ask some instructors about what that red wave could be. Unfortunately, none of them were in the Gym due to the war.
Left with no choice, Orion quickly analyzed, 'I'm not sure what that wave was, but Rhydon and others weren't able to see it. Only I and Kadabra saw it. It means that it is likely related to Psychic. Perhaps it hit me because I am a Psychic. However, that doesn't explain why Kadabra wasn't hit. Are Pokemon immune to whatever it was?'
Orion didn't have the answer. And his headaches didn't allow him to think much either. However, since it was related to Psychic, he said, "I'll meditate here for a while until someone returns to the Gym. You four stay here next to me."
Orion called out Bulbasaur and Machoke while he was speaking. They were aware of his situation and looked at him with worry. Understanding the severity, they didn't disturb him and just agreed. Orion closed his eyes and began meditating.
As soon as he did, he was surprised once again. Normally, whenever Orion meditated, he could feel the Psychic energy inside his body. This Psychic energy generally appeared in blue colour with a glow to it inside his brain.
However, he was witnessing a different sight today! Inside his mind, he could feel two forces! The first was his usual blue Psychic Energy. In addition, he could also see the red wave that had entered his body!
Orion's expression became grim as the size of the red wave was thrice the size of his Psychic energy. To make matters worse, it was continuously attacking and trying to erode his Psychic energy!
Orion realized, 'So this is why I'm having these deadly headaches. Seriously, what the hell is this thing? And what should I do to get rid of it?'
Orion was confused and without any information. With no other choice, he continued meditating while trying to resist the red energy.
A couple of hours passed. The Tide was finally routed. Only a few thousand Pokemon were alive and they decided to escape! The army decided against pursuing them as it would cause needless losses. Not to mention, killing a few thousand Pokemon was pointless when there were billions of Pokemons still out there!
The army just fortified the defences once again while the remaining Trainers returned to the city to relax. Luckily for Orion, Cedric was one of those who decided to return. He handed the command back to usual commanders and returned to the Gym.
He was about to go and rest when he walked by the meditation room where Orion was. He was surprised to see Orion meditating while surrounded by his Pokemons. However, knowing how dedicated Orion was, he didn't find it strange. He was about to leave when he suddenly felt that something was different.
He looked at Orion more carefully. His eyes widened as he noticed that Orion looked to be struggling despite meditating. He noticed that Orion's clothes were drenched in sweat. And he also noticed the splashes of blood that were on his shirt.
He quickly opened the door and entered the room. Looking sternly at Orion, he asked, "Did you participate in the war?"
Orion's Pokemon noticed Cedric's entry. His question woke Orion up as well. Orion sighed in relief on seeing Cedric and answered, "No, but I got curious and went to observe it from the sidelines."
Orion's response earned him a smack on his head as Cedric scolded, "Kids should stay out of the war!"
Orion looked at him with eyes full of complaints and rubbed the back of his head. Cedric hadn't used any force, but it had been a long time since anyone hit Orion. Not to mention, his head was already aching terribly. He said, "Alright, I apologize. Now, can you tell me what's happening to me and how I should fix it?"
Cedric looked into Orion's eyes and said, "Whenever someone dies unwillingly, they release resentment from their bodies. Under normal circumstances, it is too insignificant to have any effect on anyone. Unfortunately, a war isn't a normal circumstance.
Every time a war takes place, a huge amount of resentment is formed due to the death of countless people and Pokemon. This resentment takes the form of aura, psychic and spiritual energy and affects the ones who have those powers."
Orion's eyes widened as Cedric continued, "In simpler terms, you can consider it as Psychic trauma. If not dealt with, it'll completely destroy you and turn you into a waste person!"
