A man and a dog were nearing the end of their days, visibly aged and frail, with the heavy marks of years clearly written across their faces.
Glancing over, Cao Yu Sheng's hair was a messy tangle, withered and unkempt, his body scarcely had any flesh left, his cheeks were gaunt, sunken in, as he leaned on a beast-headed cane forged from bronze. His eyes bore the weight of years, his vitality faint to the extreme, as if he might collapse at any moment.
If it weren't for the still vigorous breath between his gasps, it would be easy for others to misinterpret his condition.
The big black dog wasn't faring much better either. Its fur was a mixture of white and gray, with patches of bare skin showing through its equally scrawny muscles. Its four paws staggered unsteadily, requiring lengthy pauses after just a few steps. What was already a cumbersome body had become even more bloated.
