While stunned, Pei Ye managed to hold onto a rock with his other hand as the arm he had been gripping continued to slide out of his grasp weakly.

He halted his descent, pulled the body up with a leap, and flew back to the slope with it.

Laying the man flat on the ground, Pei Ye groped along the arm and, just as he touched the man's mouth and nose, he heard a weak voice say, "Stop touching, I'm still alive."

Pei Ye sighed with relief. Looking around, the surroundings were dim and the shadows were indistinguishable. He wanted to start a fire to check Zhu Gaoyang's injuries.

As soon as the thought crossed his mind, a cluster of blue flames ignited in his hand.

Pei Ye paused for a moment, then sent the flame floating in the air and bent down to help Zhu Gaoyang.
