Bab 73: 73 Grades
As the beasts landed in Ryan stage, he was still calm and relaxed. He actually let out of sigh of relief when he heard the judge said he will fight rank 1 beasts.
Maybe for other rank1 novice it would be difficult, but for Ryan this was nothing. The other kids was whispering but he couldn't here them. He do have an idea of what they could possibly be saying and probably nothing good.
The beasts woke up from the confusion of being teleported and toss on a random stage pretty quickly. Some did try to jump off the stage but got blocked by the formation walls of the stage.
They all started to focus on Ryan once they noticed him in the middle of the stage. Some already been making there way towards Ryan and Ryan already pulled his short sword out.
Once they got around 10 feet away from him, they charged at him. Ryan activated his gravity chamber, which is just him making his surrounding heavier, instead focusing it on one person.
He made it 20 times heavier but could only keep it up for about a minute. Just as the beasts felt the weight, some fell to the ground other slow down alot.
Ryan use this time to used floating steps and smoothly zip pass each beast. While going he swiftly swung his sword while using mountain slash, beheading each beast. Under 20 seconds the 10 beasts was dead.
Ryan stood there without a scratch, not showing any expression. Like he had nothing to do with the piles of dead beasts scattered across the stage.
Some people was shocked but not that shocked. Ryan did say he can suppress anyone in the same rank and he was willing to bet his life on it. So most people was expecting something like this to happen.
The city lord representative didn't show any emotion like he remotely cared.
"You passed, go stand on the pass side."
Ryan made his way back to the siblings sides and the city lord representative began talking again.
"The reason I had offered everyone that failed a second chance is to prove a point. If you truly believe you was good enough to pass, you would of attempted to redo the test. But as you can see only one person actually wanted to redo the spar. Everyone else had doubted there skills and deep down know they probably not good enough."
"Im not saying all this for the people that fail, but for the people that pass. If there a part of you that believe you got lucky to pass or you surprise that you did pass. Maybe its better to leave while you still have a chance. The students you face today are the weakest students of last year freshman."
The city representative pointed at a random student in the academy.
"You been in the academy for 1 year and you pass the exam last year too. How many students that pass the exam with you died?"
The student wasn't surprised by the question, he had remembered this question being asked last year.
"I don't remember the exact number but I would say like 60%. Definitely more than half died already since than. I almost died myself a few times." The academy student said.
"Last year we had around the same amount that passed. So look at the people next to you, in a year around 60% will die because they are weak. I will give you 2min to walk to the fail side. By the way I intentionally told the students to let some pass that shouldn't, know your limits."
All the kids that passed looked at each other wondering if they will leave. 2 minutes went pass and few people left.
"The kids that failed head out that door." He said as he pointing in a direction.
With the 132 kids remaining, the city lord representative begins to speak.
"For the rest of the exam you will be taking series of tests. By how well you do on each test, you will earn points. At the end of the tests, we will add up all your points. Depending on the amounts of points you receive, you will be given a grade. All the grades are F, E, D, C, B, A, S."
"F, is the lowest and S, is the highest grade. These grades will determine alot if you enter a academy. From where you sleep, to what mission you can accept, even to what you can eat at the academy. You will receive monthly resources and your grade will determine how much you will receive. You will learn more about it when you enter the academy. I was just letting you know now to try your hardest on these tests. They will play a big part in your academy life."
As the city lord representative got done talking he performed a few hand signs. The white tiles in the floor glowed and the 12 small stages turned into 132 very small stages. It could only fit 5 people max on each stage.
"Find a stage to stand on."
Everyone randomly picked a stage.
"Set your badge on the tile that is glowing on your stage."
As everyone set there badges down on the tile, a memory stone came out of the tile next to it.
"You should see a memory stone pick it up and answer all the questions in the memory stone. Make sure to save your answers in the memory stone using your mana."
The questions was fairly simple like name, age, rank, mutated core or not, even a place that asks for your mana signature. Everyone have there owned unique mana signature that come from your mana core.
"After you get done place it back down where you got it from and wait for everyone else."
It didn't take to long for everyone to get done, and seeing that the city lord representative did a few more hand signs.
The memory stone and the badge went into the tiles floor and another stone replaced it. But the tile underneath the stone kept rising until it was at waste height of the kids.
"This is just a special stone filled with mana. This stone can measure how good you are at controlling your mana and how much you can control at once. Once you put your hand on the stone you have to absorb the mana from it but the inside of the stone is like a maze. The walls will absorb the mana if you touch the walls when you are in the process of pulling the mana out to absorb. Remember the better you do, more points you will get."
No one felt like it would be hard because this is pretty much what everyone do when they cultivate. Dragging the mana through your body to your core is similar to a maze but since you do it everyday it becomes just a easy path.
