Bab 41: Primordial Tempest Dance

Seated beside the Grandmaster, Chi Cheng tried to avoid the prying gazes from disciples in the crowd surrounding the arena. They were focused on the sword matches, but a few wandering eyes settled on him odiously.

Anyone with sense and eyes to see could deduce that he earned the Grandmaster's favour.

"What did you do to those wolf pups?" Chi Cheng broke the silence, awaiting the start of the next match.

"They're Qi devourers," Han Xuelian stated, tapping a finger on his chair's armrest. "Beasts that eat Qi to evolve or grow bigger for a short amount of time. If the Qi they consume diminishes, then they will revert to their original form."

"So they were wolf pups, to begin with…"

"I drained all the Qi from their bodies," the Grandmaster snorted. "They were consuming too much from you while you were unconscious and it was the only way to sever the connection."
