"Where are Mr. Rocket and Mr. Groot? Did you hear me?"
A bewildered prison guard instinctively pointed to the watchtower where Groot was prying open a door.
Following the guard's finger, the warden saw Rocket and Groot and was overjoyed.
He kept shouting in his mind: "They're alive, they're alive!"
Then he yelled in the direction of Rocket and Groot:
"Mr. Rocket, please wait! You don't need to escape, you can come back to Planet Xandar with me now!"
Rocket understood from the warden's words that Zane had learned about his situation and pressured Planet Xandar.
He immediately called Groot to stop.
"I am Groot." Groot turned around, looking puzzled at Rocket.
"Idiot, Zane came to rescue us. Now let's go home!" Rocket said with a bright smile.
"I am Groot." Groot nodded happily.
Then, under the watchful eyes of the prisoners and guards, they slowly walked towards the warden.
Seeing their slow pace, the warden was anxious.
Because the half-hour Zane had demanded had only 25 minutes left, and the fastest ship in the prison would take nearly 20 minutes to return to Planet Xandar.
If they dawdled any longer, who knew if the demon would turn Xandar into a dead star in a fit of rage.
However, he dared not rush them, fearing that any antics from these two would cause delays.
That would risk the lives of billions of Xandar residents, a responsibility no one could bear.
"Did Zane send you to pick us up?" Rocket asked calmly.
The warden quickly nodded and smiled obsequiously at Rocket, saying:
"Mr. Rocket, let's go quickly. Lord Zane is already waiting for you on Planet Xandar."
"Oh..."
Sensing the warden's attitude, Rocket guessed that Zane must be doing something excessive.
Otherwise, the warden wouldn't be so respectful and urgent.
"I suddenly feel this place is nice and don't want to leave." Rocket said leisurely.
"I am Groot."
Groot, confused, looked at Rocket. Rocket patted Groot's wooden head, signaling him to stay quiet.
Hearing Rocket's words, more cold sweat appeared on the warden's forehead, and his stiff smile froze even more.
"Mr. Rocket, what do you want?"
"I want his eye."
Rocket said, pointing earnestly at a guard's mechanical eye.
Without waiting for the warden to speak, he pounced, and amid the guard's screams, removed the mechanical eye.
He then handed the sparking mechanical eye to Rocket with both hands.
Rocket played with the eye maliciously before finally uttering the words the warden had been longing to hear:
"Let's go!"
In the corridor, Rocket sat on Groot's shoulder, turning to see Star-Lord and Gamora being beaten by guards in their cell.
He felt a rush of emotions and summed it up in one sentence:
"Having family feels awesome!"
On Planet Xandar, many might think the most desperate people were the civilians or the government officials.
After all, a powerful figure was threatening to destroy their planet.
But the most desperate person was actually the negotiator sent to calm Zane.
Zane had met her before.
Yes, she was the girl who had asked Zane for a parking fee when he first arrived on Planet Xandar.
Believe it or not, it was a pure coincidence.
After being scared by Zane, the girl had quit her job the next day.
Through family connections, she joined the foreign negotiations department, taking a desk job.
Every day, she served tea to leaders and handled trivial matters, busy but safe.
She liked the job, feeling her life was bright.
But just now, the top leader issued an order to send someone to calm Zane.
After seeing Zane's brutal actions, everyone in the negotiations department feigned illness or resigned.
No one dared to take the task.
Though the future was bright, their lives were more important.
But the young girl, unlike the seasoned workers, couldn't hide her feelings.
Seeing Zane's face in the video, she involuntarily screamed:
"It's him!"
Then, in the eyes of her colleagues, she was promoted from an intern to deputy minister within two seconds.
She directly had a video call with the top leader.
Upon learning she had interacted with Zane, the top leader was overjoyed.
He decided she would be the one to calm Zane.
As she was flown to the square's edge, she was still in shock.
Who am I?
Where am I?
What did I do to deserve this?
Seeing the gruesome scene around the square, she vomited in the spaceship.
The prepared minister next to her handed her a vomit bag and gently patted her back.
"It's okay, you'll get used to it," he said.
The girl, still vomiting, didn't notice the metal disc the minister attached to her.
The next moment, the spaceship door opened, and the previously warm minister pushed her out.
He then quickly shut the door and yelled at the pilot:
"Quick, get out of here!"
The girl, who wanted to thank the minister, felt her soul trampled by a thousand alpacas.
Why are these people so cunning? I'm just a kid. Is this really okay?
Isn't this like forcing a duck onto a perch?
Aren't you afraid I'll scold that man?
Well, she wouldn't dare, as her family was still on Planet Xandar.
She only had one thought: if she survived, she would resign again!
The metal disc on her back unfolded into a simple flying device.
With a hopeless expression, she flew towards Zane's location.
In the now-empty square, Zane sat on a throne, eyes closed, waiting for Rocket and the others to return.
Suddenly, he sensed someone approaching rapidly.
