Bab 50: Chapter 50: Curse Of Immortality

Through the secret passage located in the garden of the castle, Killian stealthily walked as he passed through the tall shrubs. The moon was in the sky, bringing light to the surroundings.

He spent so much time pleasing the queen and her daughters that he had already lost track of time.

However, before reaching a certain tunnel leading to the underground passage, Killian sensed someone approaching him. And he immediately understood that person already knew that Killian could sense her.

Killian exhaled and stood straight, his eyes darting to the person walking slowly towards him.

"Would you look at that. A lustful rascal sneaking out of the castle after having fun with the two princesses and queen," Mikaela said, stopping a few meters away from Killian. She crossed her arms. "And here I thought you were already gone for Orjee."

"And you are still here. You really taking retirement as some kind of punishment, huh?" Killian replied.

Mikaela paused for a second before slowly exhaling. "I am about to leave. But I saw a man who was being dragged by the queen and the two princesses into one of the guest rooms." She shook her head. "When will you stop being like that?"

"Telling me to stop doing it is like telling a fish to jump out of the water and live on land. Whether I like it or not, it is my way of life." Killian shrugged. "Fortunately for me, doing it is fun."

Mikaela uncrossed her arms. "Killian Ashler, would you mind staying for a while?"

"As much as I want to stay, I need to work on my journey to Orjee. You know, responsibility." Killian turned his back.

"Too bad. Because I think this is the last time we will see each other," Mikaela said with sadness in her voice.

Killian furrowed his eyebrows. "When did you become so soft? You used to drag me around when I didn't want to do whatever nonsense you wanted me to. You were a huge pain back then."

"Old age, I guess?" Mikaela said as she turned her back and walked towards the white patio.

"We are the same age," Killian said.

"Technically, I am older than you," Mikaela replied, sitting on one of the windows of the patio. Her eyes darted to the moon above.

Killian sat with her, and just like her, he stared at the moon above. The gentle wind blew, making Mikaela's white hair sway in the air. Killian looked at her with a gentle smile, and she responded by smiling sweetly.

"Did you enjoy your life?" Killian asked.

"It was decent. If it would end soon, it would be a good run." She raised her feet as she sat properly. "I think retiring is the final nail in it."

"You were a hero; you will be remembered by future generations as the great blonde gorilla who fought for peace." Killian nodded in his own words. "I will make sure you will be remembered and honored until the end of time."

"I am not even dead yet, but you already accepted it as a fact," Mikaela said, chuckling.

Killian didn't laugh back; his eyes were filled with seriousness. He could see through her facade. "And you are afraid of the day it will come. The reckless guardian who was not afraid of jumping into any danger is afraid of death."

Mikaela put her hand on her chest. "Do you know what's funny? I never got married, but I was so afraid to die alone that I decided to adopt a bunch of orphans. But my fear is still here, intensifying as I age older." Her eyes finally revealed the fear in her eyes. "I know it is childish to say this, but... I still want to live longer... or even for eternity."

"I don't have any objection to that. But I hope you understand that living indefinitely is not as great as everyone thought. The only advantage it has is that you can live forever." His black eyes slowly turned red. "But everyone around you is not. You just blink, and everyone is gone."

"Just like... Hikari?" Mikaela asked.

"Seeing you in this state made me realize something. My chance of getting Hikari back is already far gone," Killian said, and his clothes turned into a brown cloak. His white mask covered his face. "Magic doesn't exist in her world. Who knows if she's still alive right now."

Sadness filled Mikaela's eyes. "Cas..."

"I lied. I didn't spend more than 40 years looking for a way to become stronger. I spent those years looking for a way to bring her back. I found the relic that allowed me to turn back time. I thought that was the solution." Killian spread his wings. "But it failed me. It only allowed me to live the same day over and over again, and the day we lost Hikari was several years away."

Silence enveloped both of them. They silently stared at each other, seemingly talking with their eyes.

"If you really want to gain immortality, I have good news for you. There's a sacred relic called The Last Droplet of Oasis. Find it. And bear the curse I am experiencing right now," Killian said, looking at the starry night sky. "But don't say I didn't warn you."

Mikaela's face lit up as Killian gave her a solution. "I will find it, and I will make sure that I will be blaming you for every painful second of that curse of immortality," she joked.

Killian chuckled. "Then... see you around. I hope next time we meet you are back to your sexy blonde appearance." He kneeled to prepare to fly away.

"See you around," Mikaela said, waving her hand.

With such speed, Killian launched into the sky. He flew away towards the capital. On the other hand, Mikaela watched until he disappeared from her sight.

"The Last Droplet of Oasis, huh? Don't tell me it was reserved for Hikari, in case he managed to bring her back. Unfortunately, he could not." Mikaela stood up and walked one step forward. "Does he already give up on bringing her back?" She shook her head. "No. I know him too well to know that he won't give up easily. He has another plan."
