Chapter 8
"Please, stop. Stop please." Kael begged his brother.
"But the show has only just begun. And you must watch. I did this specifically for you." Augustus told him.
Kael was forced to watch as Percival showed up next. But he was in a different position. What was planned for Percival was different from what had been planned for Fiona.
Percival was tied to five different bulls. He also had a magical restraint on each arm and leg. Each arm was attached to a bull and so was each of his legs. His head was also attached to a bull. A rope was tied to each bull, linking each extremity.
Percival's face was contorted in pain. There was something about Percival's position that did not sit well with Kael. He already knew what his brother was planning and it irked him. He feared for his friend.
"Please. Please stop." Kael begged his brother.
Augustus gave him an eyeroll. "Like I've been saying, brother, we have only just begun."
He continued. "Now for this next show, we have Percival. A prince from another country although we all know that country exists no more. He is a very close friend of yours and we know he amplifies his strength with magic which is why we decided to do something like that for this play."
Kael frowned. "Play? We? Who are we?" He asked his brother.
Augustus ignored him. "The bulls have been amplified with magic, giving them strength like no other and the ropes are ten times stronger than a normal rope amplified with magic. Your friend wouldn't be able to escape."
Kael watched in dread and the bulls moved, each in different directions. He could see the pain etched on Percival's face and Kael could only imagine what immense pain Percival was going through. He also knew that if there was any time to beg or put a stop to this, it was now. Although his begging had resulted in nothing, he hoped to change it this time.
"Please. Please. I'll do anything. Just let him go, please." Kael cried to his brother.
Augustus paused and turned to Kael. Kael looked back at the projection and noticed that the bulls stopped moving. He heaved a sigh of relief when he saw that. Perhaps he could convince his brother to stop.
"Anything?" Augustus asked him.
"Yes. Please. Just let him go." Kael begged his brother.
Augustus laughed. "Since you promised to do anything, maybe I can try."
"Thank you. Thank you." Kael smiled in relief and joy after hearing that.
Augustus laughed again. "Oh, sweet baby brother. What a fool you are. I can't put a stop to this because it already happened."
Kael stared with wide-open eyes. He could not turn his head away from the projection to stare at his brother so his eyes were still plastered on Percival. Augustus snapped his fingers and the movements began again. Each bull moved in a different direction, tearing Percival's limbs.
A scream erupted from Percival along with Kael's as he watched his friend being torn apart. There was nothing he could do except watch.
"No. No. Stop. Stop please." Kael cried out.
Percival cried out in pain. His scream erupted something in Kael's chest.
"Fuck…" Percival cried out as his limbs were pulled away from him one by one.
First was his left leg. Then came his right arm. His right leg and then his left arm. He was still alive even with all his limbs removed but the bull attached to his head started moving.
"Stop. Stop. Please. Stop." Kael cried out.
"No can do." Augustus laughed as he watched his brother in pain.
"I'm sorry. I'll do anything. Please. Please." Kael knew his begging was in vain.
His friend was dead already. Augustus had just recorded this for him. He had kept it personally for Kael.
"Please." Kael cried out as he watched Percival's head being torn away from the rest of his body.
There was no need to beg again. Percival was gone. The projection went off with a bang as the fireworks came to life again, burning him.
There were still two other projections and Kael was sure one was Draco. His closest friend. Kael watched as the third projection lit up and Draco's face appeared.
Draco who hardly cried was sobbing. Kael watched as Draco's younger sister walked into the room where Draco was. She looked different from the pictures he had shown Kael.
Her eyes were fully black and she was crying blood. Draco had claimed that his sister was going to be the best magician with time. But her core was still not covered. She was only five. She walked into the room naked and Kael saw the core in her chest. It was tainted.
Two things that should never happen to a core as pure as that were one, tainting and two, overflowing. Kael knew his brother had been behind the tainting. Draco cried when he saw his sister.
"I knew I shouldn't have left you alone. I should never have gone to the war. I should never have stayed here. I doubted him. I doubted him." Draco repeated his words as his sister approached him.
"Dra…..co…." She called out.
She sounded like she was in pain. Draco had no restraint on him but Kael was sure his brother had done it on purpose because he knew no matter what, Draco would be unable to hurt his sister.
"Dra…..co….." she called out again.
Draco moved towards her. He knew she was dangerous at the moment. He kneeled better than to approach her but she was in pain. She was the only one he had left. His parents had died when she was just eight months old so he raised her. She was his everything. Everyone thought it was due to a sister complex but it was because she gave him that push he needed to continue living. To continue breathing. Numerous times he had wanted to give up, blaming himself for the death of their parents but her smile made him continue.
And just when he finally had friends to introduce her to. Just when he was ready to show her he could also make more friends. To show his nanny that he was no longer that sad boy from the past.
"Come to big brother." Draco cried out.
He crouched down and opened his arms for her. He waited patiently as she moved slowly into his arms. He held her close, pressing kisses on her blonde hair.
"I love you." He told her.
"Draco. It hurts." She cried out in pain.
"I know. I'm sorry. I'm so fucking sorry." Draco cried out.
He pressed one last kiss on her and did his best to absorb her pain. He was trying to purify her core but the more darkness he took in, the more his lifespan shortened and within moments, Draco collapsed, holding his little sister who had given up the ghost also.
The projection went off with fireworks and Kael did not say anything to his brother.
"That was anticlimactic but it was the best way to kill him, don't you think?" Augustus asked Kael with a smile.
Kael wanted everything to be over. He was done with watching but the magic holding him in place had not let up and there was one more projection.
He did not need to guess who he would see because a part of him already knew who would be there.
Cecilia.
There was no point in watching Augustus kill Cecilia. She was already dead and was hung on a cross. From the looks of it, she had been dead for weeks, maybe even months. There were marks on her neck and Kael had to watch as they took down Cecilia's body and placed her on a bed. A bed decorated with rose petals.
He watched as Augustus climbed the bed and placed a kiss on her already cold lips. Augustus fondled her breast and Kael watched in horror as even the body of his dead wife was being disrespected and he could do nothing.
Augustus moaned as he moved deeper into her. Fondling her breasts lovingly.
"She thought she could get away from me but even in death, I still had her," Augustus told him.
"Fuck you," Kael said to his brother in tears.
First came sadness, then numbness, rage at seeing him violate Cecilia. If only Kael had noticed it sooner. Cecilia had been right all along. Augustus did not love him like a bother.
The magic holding Kael in place relieved him and he finally blinked. The restraints were still present but he was no longer tied to a chair.
"Why did you do all this?" Kael asked him in an even voice.
He was furious at his brother but he tried to control it.
Augustus laughed. "Everything that happened, it's because of you. They are all dead because of you. Because you knew them. You are the cause of their deaths."
Kael saw red. He moved without thinking and tried to kill his brother forgetting that he had absolutely nothing to do so. With one move, Augustus sliced his throat and Kael collapsed in his pool of blood.
"Too fucking easy, brother." Augustus laughed at Kael who stared at him with lifeless eyes.
