Sat alone in a dark, cold office, was a grey-haired man. Having grown old, his face had become wrinkled.
Looking out of his office window at the settlement, he let out a tired sigh.
*Knock!* *Knock!*
"Come in."
The door opened and a single green-haired secretary emerged. She wore a calm expression.
"Sir. We've received a visit from two high-ranked hunters from another settlement."
"What does that have to do with me?"
"They've caused quite a havoc, injuring all the hunters we had downstairs."
"Ah, so that's what why I kept hearing things breaking. Haa…"
Looking out the window, the man sighed.
"These youngins, they never learn. Why come here if you're going to mess things up?"
"They asked us to lend them money."
"Then you should've just lent them the money. They're high-ranked are they not? They'll earn us it back in seconds."
His expression was serious as he glanced at her.
"Remember, high-ranked hunters aren't to be treated equally. The stronger they are, the further out of our control they become. Grant to their requests and use them for our own. Understood?"
Upon receiving another lesson, the secretary bowed in gratitude.
"Understood."

"Oh~? There's another one. Do you want to attack me too or can I leave?" The dirty blonde hair hunter asked with a grin.
A sigh escaped Julius's lips.
''Looks like there was more to this unusual duo than I thought.'
In the moment Julius was about to respond-
"What happened here?" The secretary in front of him asked as she adjusted her glasses.
The blonde hunter looked around with a smile. "Oh this? It was self-defence."
"I see… very well. You're free to leave." She replied as she grabbed Julius and dragged him to the receptionist counter.
While walking to the desk, she whispered something quietly to Julius.
"Ignore them. Don't let them provoke you, they're high ranked hunters. The others ended up in this state because they were stupid enough to challenge them."
Astonished, Julius raised his eyebrows.
'She's trying to help me? I thought she hated me… she's one difficult person to understand…'
Once they reached the reception, the secretary noticed that she was the only secretary around.
In response, a glare sprang from her towards the still-present pair.
"You're still here? I thought you no longer had any business here, please leave unless you have any enquiries."
"A bit cold aren't you? We're the victims here, but alright, we'll leave."
After saying those last words, the duo exited, carrying the bag of money with them. After they left, Julius watched the secretary sigh behind the desk.
"Ah… I'm going to have to do overtime today…"
"Must be hard… anyway can I get my hunter's licence now?" Julius asked.
She looked at him and frowned.
"Before I register you, I'll need to go over a few details."
"Go ahead."
-
They walked outside, the blonde-haired hunter smiling at the bag of money he carried. Meanwhile, the brown-haired girl occasionally glanced back at the building of the hunter's organisation.
"Something wrong? My plan to make some easy money worked." He said.
She shook her head.
"Teacher, that boy was dangerous." She muttered.
"So you noticed it too? Good job, looks like you've been studying hard." He responded as he patted her head.
The headpats made her smile joyfully.
"Are you not going to bring him to the military school? He has the talent for it." She asked.
"Hm~ who knows. We have our own mission to accomplish here." He responded with a grin.
-
"Did you get all of that?", the receptionist inquired.
He paused for a moment before nodding.
Her explanations had covered quite a few topics. To summarize;
A hunter's rank ranged from E to S. The hunters had the right to keep the treasures they discovered in the Labyrinths and were allowed to travel through the world portals.
Additionally, hunters could exchange, herbs, crystals, and even relics they collected from the labyrinths for money. They could also exchange monster parts and cores of monsters hunted inside or outside the Labyrinths.
Hunting licences for E rank hunters are maintained by paying a monthly fee or paying the yearly fee upfront.
Hunters also received discounts when purchasing weapons from the organization. There were many benefits to it.
"Here you go. A tenner like you asked." Said Julius as he handed her the coins.
After the apocalypse, a new type of currency came into play around the world. Governments around the world that had united together to fight the apocalypse, along with the hunter organisation, backed it.
The currency became known New World Credits.
"That's ten new world credits… Alright, you've paid the monthly fee."
Currently, Julius could not afford the annual fee. Only the monthly payment was affordable for him.
"Lend me your finger."
Julius did as instructed. After scanning Julius' hand on a platform, she left the desk.
"I'll be back shortly with your licence. Please wait a moment."
She left the room, leaving Julius behind.
"...She started being oddly professional. What happened to the bitchy attitude?"
While bored, he surveyed the many unconscious hunters around him. Surprisingly, not a single secretary was hurt, so where did they go?
Suddenly, a separate door opened from the back of the room, and the secretaries and attendants he had seen earlier appeared.
"Everyone, we're on overtime. Carry everyone to the medical facility."
Julius seemed to be ignored as they got to moving immediately. It didn't seem like it was their first time dealing with something like this.
When one of them made eye contact with him, they quickly bowed before carrying the other hunters away.
He watched as the knocked-out hunters were escorted out in stretchers.
'Should I help? I'm not really in the mood too though… Argh, screw it. It might help me build a decent reputation.'
Coming to that conclusion, he offered to help while waiting for his licence to be prepared.

"Here you go, your licence is ready." Said the secretary with a smile as she handed Julius a small metallic card. "Thank you for helping the other secretaries out, I overheard them talking fondly about you."
"If you're truly grateful, you can pay me." Julius responded as he inspected his licence.
<Julius Night>
<Rank: E>
<Fingerprint>
It was quite simple looking. It read his name, rank and had his finger print at the bottom.
"Haha, funny. If you no longer have any business here, please leave unless you have any enquiries."
"I hope they fire you." Julius responded with a smile.
"I hope they do too." She smiled back.
With that final exchange, Julius left.
'Now all that's left for me to do is…'
