Bab 124: Ch 124: Attacking the Domain of a God (4/4)

These devil worshippers didn't have many brain cells to begin with, otherwise, why would they be kissing Namroug's stinky feet despite knowing he was playing both the saint and the devil to earn followers and would gladly sacrifice them if the need arose? And now that they were driven by a fervent desire for retribution their thoughts were consumed by anger and the need for vengeance, how could they let rationality hold them down? 

So they rushed out of the protective embrace of the unholy church to confront the Pope head-on. 

If they had stayed inside the church, whatever dark force was at play could've guaranteed their safety as it would've not allowed the Pope to step inside the church or his catastrophic attacks to pass through its entrance, but now that they've come out of the church, it might not protect them, and even if it tried, Valerius was certain he would be able to outmaneuver it to kill one devil worshipper after another until none was left.
