"Gougou, be good, mom is wet, stand a bit further away."
Nanzhi quietly spoke to teary-eyed Gougou.
"Mom, can we go home?" Gougou's voice had a whining tone as he looked at Nanzhi's weak state.
"Alright, we will go home." Nanzhi managed a smile, leaning on her face. Her clothes, drenched and clinging to her skin, felt uncomfortable. Despite eating well for half a month, her body remained pathetically thin. Even a small amount of exertion made her feel as if she had been drained.
Hearing Nanzhi's words, Gougou nodded and trotted down to the river to pick up the bamboo basket.
"Sister Nanzhi, let me assist you." Ms. Sun, looking at Nanzhi's weak and thin figure, was worried she might collapse halfway.
Nanzhi shook her head, wiped her face with her hand, and tucked her disheveled hair behind her ears. "I'm alright, I can walk by myself. Thanks again, Sister Sun."
