Lu Lingche nodded and waved for his assistant to leave, left to drink alone.

The cool drink slid down his throat, stimulating his senses and numbing his nerves.

Outside it was pouring rain, he was alone in the empty villa, his heart aching as though it was about to split in two.

Alcohol could numb the brain, why not the heartache?

Why was it becoming more painful?

The divorce agreement was on the sofa, Qiao Yin's signature on it was a stab to his eyes.

What had come over him?

Wasn't he the one who proposed the divorce? Why was it that her signature didn't ease his mood but instead made him feel a never-ending gloom?

There were hurried footsteps.

He looked up and saw the Old Madam rush in.

Old Madam's face was pale, "I heard that Qiao Yin lost the child she was carrying. Is that true?"

"It's true."

"Did you make her abort?!"

Lu Lingche mocked in a cold laugh, "Me? You overestimate me, I don't have that capability."
