Bab 608: I'm not making any faces, I'm making friends

There was a sound of drums beating, of the low, steady thrumming that made the hairs on her skin rise and sent a thrill through her.

She was sitting at a table in front of one of the food stands, enjoying the sweet treat of a fresh fruit skewer when the drums began.

She stood up, the food forgotten in the midst of the drumming. She could hear the people around her, the cheering and clapping, but she didn't pay any attention to them.

She just stood up and looked at the parade that was coming down the street. There was a group of dancers with drums on their shoulders and in their arms.

The dancers were dressed in brightly colored clothing, with feathers and ribbons adorning their bodies. They had masks covering their faces and their hands were covered with fingerless gloves.

The drumming was accompanied by chanting, singing, and dancing. The people were all dressed in bright colors, and their faces were hidden by masks.
