As soon as the door shut behind her, Alexander kissed her, deep and passionate, his hands cupping her cheeks tenderly. He moved so quickly and confidently that she hardly had a moment to gasp before his mouth was on hers.

His touch was firm, yet gentle, and he took control of the kiss without hesitation.

She melted against him, closing her eyes and surrendering herself completely to his embrace. He was strong, warm, and secure. Even if she relaxed completely there was no chance she'd slip through his arms to the floor.

When he finally broke away from her mouth, he rested his forehead against hers.

"Isabelle..."

His voice was thick with emotion, his breath heavy.

Her name sounded almost reverent on his tongue. A prayer. Something he found sacred and precious and...

Isabelle licked her lips, tasting the faint sweetness of the wine they'd drank earlier. She inhaled deeply, savoring the warmth of his body pressed against her own. "Yes?"
